Pros

Wonderful, bright experienced people. Reasonable work/life balance.

Cons

Creatively challenged by difficult clients. More and more pharma accounts don't make things any easier for the creative dept.

Pros

A very human-focused agency. Usually mindful of everyone's outside lives and needs. A fantastic agency to start at. A fantastic agency to finish with. If you're tired of the competitiveness of the industry, or your priorities have shifted from winning awards to paying for your daughter's college tuition, Kaplan Thaler is an ideal place to work. The senior management is very passionate about their agency, and hearing them speak, it's inspiring.

Cons

The agency is terrified to take risks. They were founded in the mid-'90s, and it's still their point of reference. Most campaigns are tagline-driven, making them intrinsically incapable of living long-term. There is an almost apartheid-like division between the broadcast/print and digital departments. Agency is 100% Account-driven. To the point of an infestation. As a result, creative ideas fly only as high as the senior-most Account director's capacity for imagination will allow. There's rarely a day of enjoyment of a job well done, because every day is an emergency for something. Expect poorly-articulated deadlines, panicked late nights, and weekends in the office.
