Accessioning (data entry) was okay, Distribution has been excellent - Courier Labcorp Employee Review

Pros

-Company provides many opportunities to switch from department to department. Started out doing data entry and ended up as a courier, which I enjoy greatly. Other people I've worked with have moved on to IT or phelbotomy work and others have gone to the same jobs in other areas of the country. It's a giant company so there are a whole lot of opportunities for people willing to branch out and maybe change fields. -Good benefits, good employee stock purchase plan, good amount of time off, varied and interesting employee discount program. -The company will pay for some education that leads to company jobs. A lot of people I worked with in data entry attended phlebotomy classes on Labcorp's dime then transferred to those shifts. -Excellent perks for couriers (personal use of company car/fleet card) -Raises were initially poor but have improved the last few years. -Consistent hours in current department. Not like UPS or Fedex where different areas and wildly varying workload throughout year. Same stops almost every day. -It's usually quite easy to figure out what is required from you ("do this job using this process and at this speed", not many intangibles) and performance reviews are clear.

Cons

-Hours in a lot of positions are strange because the company wants to have testing done overnight so it is a 24/7 operation. Turnover in the night jobs is high because most people are looking for something else. -A lot of the jobs are overly standardized to the point of being dreary. Accessioning in particular is dreary because you sit for hours at a time and obsess over your 'numbers' or how fast you're doing the work. At one point, we were even told not to put family photos or any decoration on our work stations that we use almost every day because they're supposed to be able to be used by any person at any time. People are just trying to make the work a little more bearable, Labcorp! -Have to drive no matter the weather which is understandable because of the nature of the work but not all of the cars we use are suited to bad weather driving. -Every so often the upper management seems to get overly concerned about something, make all kinds of irritating changes, then forget about it entirely. This was a bigger problem in my first department than the one I'm currently in but every so often we'll be saddled with some new system that doesn't make any sense and eventually is forgotten about. Not as huge a problem as I'm probably making it seem but it happens. -Communication between departments can be really poor sometimes. -Management varies significantly, a lot of them are very good, others are often just using the late night shifts as a stepping stone to a better position and don't really care about the employees. Your mileage at this company may vary based on who your manager is. If you have a bad experience, consider looking for a position in a different location or part of the company.

Pros

Very low proc rate. I can draw blood with my non dominate arm as well. I've done many split shifts for LabCorp. I've traveled a lot for LabCorp. Sometimes 2hrs in a single day. I go above and beyond. In so much that Advanced Cardiology only wants me to be their tech and no one else. They love having me as their tech. I take out Advanced Cardiology's trash and boxes to the dumpster for them. I do deep dives to ensure the very rare specialty tests are done exactly the way the doctors want them since these test codes are rarely given. And when PTs want a curtesy copy sent to another doctor I make sure to put it in the system and make an additional attachment,. Which makes the PTs very happy😁I also cover Rowan OB/GYN at night when ask at the Sper of the moment. I'm very willing to go above and beyond for my supervisor. I stayed on the clock even though I pulled a muscle around my ribcage and I was struggling to breath; it was hard to keep my asthma under control...I didn't want to inconvenience LabCorp by leaving. So I went to the hospital after my shift.

Cons

speed even though I've done a 25 PT volume IOP by my self.

Pros

None whatsoever. Everything they advertise as a pro has fineprint that renders it completely useless.

Cons

Wish I could have given zero stars, 1 star feels like lying. The most important thing is that they will mess you over without a second thought. For those who may have just started at the company, quit now before they mess you over. Don't be deceived by the benefits they advertise. Don't think you're valued because they will turn on you the second keeping you as part of the team inconveniences them. They don't pay fairly and blow off people who need to make a living. On top of trash pay, the work environment will have you hating what you do even while you're actively helping people. At PSCs, you're severely overworked and under a microscope. As an IOP, you're underappreciated and taken advantage of. The way they do business is very shady. They constantly have lawsuits against them, Google it. I saw the reviews and didn't listen because I thought a bad job was better than no job in this economy. I was so wrong. For your own mental health, and overall finances, don't work here. EVER. There are other jobs out there that pay fairly and aren't toxic. I found one and am so happy because I could have been trapped in a company going nowhere. Now I am paid what I'm worth and growing in my career, not just stuck choosing between being a phlebotomist, float or a high-stress supervisor. Just wait for a better job. I promise, the trash pay and stress are NOT worth the gas you'll waste driving all over the place even when you're not a float. Just don't do it.
