Pros

PTO immediately with reasonable accrual rates, floating holidays, industry standard health/dental/vision coverage, bonus structure. You can earn “shine points” for your work & use those to purchase various items available on an internal gift site. Remote work options, company provides all necessary equipment; you’ll definitely need it.

Cons

There is no work life balance due to unreasonable workload & expectations, constant turnover, middle management heavy, starting pay for casualty is below industry standard. Very little diversity on the executive management team. All negotiation calls with attorneys must be recorded or expect to be reprimanded. In the beginning it was ok; training was a bit of a disappointment - they insist you focus ONLY on training but then give you live file transfers during training which have not been vetted, meaning as a new employee learning the company you may receive a demand during training. There was constant turnover (resignations) therefore you’re always in receipt of transfer files (pre-suit and litigation) that may be current or may not have been touched in months. Expect volume to be around 175-200 exposures, that has everything to do with movement out of & turnover within the department. If you’re lucky you may get help from a peer that’s kind enough to take time out of their day to assist. Most team managers delegate to your peers unless you get with a really great manager (there were a couple) that didn’t mind taking the time to provide the necessary support so you didn’t drown. Instead of working collaboratively with defense counsel as a specialist I got the impression I was expected to actually BE the attorney vs working collaboratively with counsel. As someone with 20 years of experience in multiple lines of business, including but not limited to BI litigation - I found this place to be emotionally draining with the culture of tech start up that thinks caring for employees means having a ping pong table.

Pros

They still care about DEI.

Cons

Mgmt micromanages to extremes. They have performance metrics that are not in writing anywhere and are completely subjective so if a manager doesn't like you, they just score you low. They have introduced countless processes and templates which increase time needed to work on a claim but have done nothing to lower the amount of claims you're expected to handle. Seriously, run away from this place like all the adjusters are trying to!
