Pros

You are not unemployed, and you get take free classes after working for a while.

Cons

Where to start, I worked at the Target warehouse in Wilton,NY. When I first started, they told me they needed a hard copy of my birth certificate and that I could not fax it or mail them a copy. So I drove the two and a half hours to meet the lady to give my birth certificate to. I met with her for two minutes where she took out her phone and took a picture of my birth certificate then left. So why couldn't I have faxed it to her? So anyways I started working as a warehouse worker at $14 an hour as advertised by Manpower. The first day I was there I was VLE'd(voluntary leave) which isn't voluntary since they force you to leave. However I was picked up by the general lead of a different department and worked the rest of the day there. Almost every week after that many people were VLE'd right when they got there or early on in the day, most of the time you wouldn't know how long you would be able to work for. After around three months, Manpower decided to cut our pay to $12 an hour claiming that the $14 an hour was "holiday pay" where the work level was more. When we got cut down to $12 an hour the work level increased with the Target leads putting more and more work on you and expecting you to keep up, which I did. Target is able to hire you after 90 days of working with Manpower. I worked there for seven months, gained recognition from many Target employees and was even told I was going to be hired by my department Target lead. They told me I was going to be hired in February, then March; at the end of March they told us that nobody would get hired until June or July. At this point, it was clear that they were just leading us on. You can only work with Manpower for a year and after that your layed off. You could not ever get a straight answer whether or not you were getting hired or not. You could not even use the Target leads as references for other jobs because they were not allowed to. Manpower would wonder why morale was so low when they would not give us raises but they would hold a raffle once a mother why a few people would get $100. My advice would be to join Target as a seasonal, it seemed like some of them get hired and they pay is considerably more for the same work.

Pros

The company I was assigned to is able to provide upskilling opportunities assuming you are performing well. The job is relatively easy and pays well in comparison to the market.

Cons

The work itself can be repititive but that is just the nature of data entry. I had to put something here to place the review..
