Pros
Easy to get a job here, advancement opportunities for those who want them, friendly environment
Cons
Probably the worst is the dishonesty and deliberate attempts to mislead staff about benefits which simply do not exist. For example, they state "it is our policy to pay for performance" and tell you that you get a pay rise every October. However, minimum wage goes up in October so it would be illegal for pay not to go up. if it really was policy to pay for performance, the differential would be applied after the minimum rate goes up. They state they "are proud to announce we will continue to pay above minimum wage". Minimum wage is £6.31. They pay £6.32. They state they value diversity and boast their flexible schedule as one of the top benefits. However, in order to be considered for promotion or full time work, you must be fully flexible. This practice blatantly contradicts their policy and worse, automatically excludes those with children which amounts to direct sex discrimination. They claim a "competitive wage" yet there are no premiums for working bank holidays and they pay a measly 50p per hour for hours worked between 12am-6am. There are no taxis provided for those finishing late at night, after the last bus. They claim to support development, yet have a policy not to give feedback to candidates who apply for internal vacancies. They claim you will be paid for travel costs and time taken to travel in addition to normal travel, if you are asked to attend a training class or meeting. This does not happen. Ever. They claim to guarantee job security but one week you could have 40 hours and the next you have 20, which amounts to not always being able to afford to eat 3 meals a day so they can save .0000001% on their labour line. I left to work for a company who practices what they preach and am much happier but I know my poor ex colleagues are still being taken advantage of.
