Pros

Megalomedia offers relatively steady work for freelancers and contract employees by Austin, TX standards and for full time employees they offer benefits as well.

Cons

The heads of the company have never worked in production outside of their own shows and do not run this like a working production company. They have minimal knowledge of equipment or production guidelines. The company is terribly mismanaged, constantly over budget, late on deadlines for shows and has a terrible reputation with the networks that work with them. They underpay all of their employees because they feel they can get away with it, being one of the bigger production companies in Austin. Certain positions, such as an Associate Producer/Coordinator are paid less than 1000/week because the head of the company googled what "Office Associates" make, even though that's not even the same job. AP/Coordinators are also on call 24/7 and juggle what would be 5 different jobs at any real production company for that abysmal rate. They show a constant disrespect for their employees time and do not appreciate the absurdly long hours people work for them. They always feel threatened by employees who have legitimate production experience and try to suggest changes for the better, so they fire them or push them out. Their goal is to pay people as little as possible so they can get away with constantly going over budget and walking away with their own personal chunks of cash. The President feels the need to micromanage every single aspect of the post production process after not paying attention to it or watching cuts for the entire time it is shooting. He will constantly come in with ultimatums on issues that he caused by not paying attention when asked to earlier. I was put in many situations that were morally wrong regarding cast members, their health and their insurance.

Pros

Worked on a show for them. Felt supported by management when we hit some unexpected bumps in the road. Overall had a great experience and would pick up a gig with them again.

Cons

None that I can think of.

Pros

- The crew is awesome and professional - The pay comes through when you need it

Cons

- Management is horrible and unorganized. - Management is not engaged until something is wrong, then they won't hesitate to call or text to berate you. - Feels like a factory, they don't really care about helping people - Management doesn't care about the wellbeing of crew. They only care if you work the entire 12-hour day. - The smell of people's houses is unbareable - People have roach infestations sometimes and when you tell management, they don't care - Dr. Now's office is unsanitary, old and falling apart - Dr. Now is too old to do bariatric surgery and is partially deaf - Dr. Now doesn't believe in emotional eating and tells his patients they "lack discipline" - There is no company morale - There are no opportunities for growth - Company culture is pretty trash- if something goes wrong, people scramble to find someone to blame
