Pros

Great company with endless growth opportunities, Compass Group offers multiple lines of business to go into. Good working culture. Highest client retention rate in the industry which provides almost guaranteed job security, and most clients give their unit perks to you for working on site. Most Morrison accounts Managers only work every other weekend, or one weekend a month depending on staffing levels. 25 PTO days to start. I've been able to move around within the company a few times since starting only about 4 years ago, only 18 months required in your role before being able to apply for promotions/transfers.

Cons

Much of your experience depends on your client. No two accounts are the same, and some clients can be very demanding and challenging, however you are given the opportunity to move around after 18 months in your roll. Some programs in place can be daunting to work with at first, and hourly staffing can be a problem at times (this is becoming the norm for food service). Some client families will choose to retain control of the unit labor (hourly employees paid through hospital). Many accounts have unionized labor which can be challenging for managers that have not worked in unionized environments.

Pros

flexible schedule. unlimited PTO. never a shortage of work. if you work for a unit with a good manager, that's all you need,

the flexible schedule is also a con. they call you at 6 am and 11 pm about things that can absolutely wait. the unlimited PTO is also a con, they do this so they don't have to pay you out when you leave or remove you, they also don't really let you take off as much time as you want. upper management, the VPs and DPs are nightmares. terrible people that are totally disconnected from the mission and the "corporate culture." they push acceptance at the unit level, and then upper leadership doesn't listen to it at all. The VPS and presidents like to take the CEO out drinking and they all love to party.
