Pros

Pearson is a cutting-edge company with a huge reach. Their resources are vast and allow for exciting opportunities in terms of personal professional growth and development. Attending conferences and taking courses is encouraged and paid for. Additionally, the colleagues are exceptionally friendly and caring.

Cons

The current HR structure and policies do not allow for substantial salary raises. Many people receive promotions, but don't receive the added salary. It is commonly known that in order to "climb the ladder," one must quit and then try to get re-hired. Additionally, external candidates are more sought after for positions. While there is internal recruitment and leadership development, it is more "on paper" than in practice. Accordingly, external candidates can receive higher salaries than an internal promotion. This leads to a lack of upward mobility and employee retention.

Pros

Working on EdTech and helping improve educational outcome. Caring coworkers, altruistic & mission driven, etc.

Cons

Pay is reasonable for working in the education field but is slightly lower than working in other parts of tech.

Pros

When a project goes according to plan you can work with some great people and make decent money.

Cons

Bad behavior is tolerated when you have a weak team member. They are allowed to remain on payroll, even if they do not effectively contribute. The burden is often placed on the team members willing to pick up the slack. Promotions are not given to the most qualified. They are randomly assigned. There are some horrible scoring directors as a result.
