Pros

It's important to note that this review is for Pearson Custom, not Pearson Education as a whole. The environment at Custom is vastly different from else. The best reason to work there are also the worst - everyone's responsibilities are very clearly defined and you are never expected to go above or beyond. Benefits are pretty great.

Cons

There's nowhere to move in Custom. There's only 2 levels of work. The management is absolutely awful. They treat their employees with no respect and there is a culture of finger pointing. Management will often be sure to find a way to find you at fault for something that may have been out of your hands. If you attempt to loop in your manager for help early on, you will get completely mixed messages about whether this is appropriate and will often be told one thing now, and one thing later. There's no creativity, no room to do anything outside of your role. In short, thank your lucky stars they hire you on 6 month contracts and take that as your out.

Pros

When a project goes according to plan you can work with some great people and make decent money.

Cons

Bad behavior is tolerated when you have a weak team member. They are allowed to remain on payroll, even if they do not effectively contribute. The burden is often placed on the team members willing to pick up the slack. Promotions are not given to the most qualified. They are randomly assigned. There are some horrible scoring directors as a result.
