One of the most stressful, miserable, corporate jobs I've ever had. - Developer PetSmart Employee Review

Pros

- The pay is good, but you will work overtime and slave away, taking away time from your family and outside life. - Benefits are good, and vacation is offered, but when you try to take it, they get upset. What's the point of a lot of vacation when you can't ever take it. Or if you take it, it's held against you? - Casual dress - Can bring pets to work

Cons

- Complete and utter micro-managers at its' best. They watch by minutes how long your breaks/lunches/schedules are at even though your work is complete and you're putting in the hours. Their motto is that they don't care about the hours, they just "want you to get the work done", aka you will not have an outside life outside of work. - Total Devil Wears Prada meets Mean Girls. People and Management are cut-throat and only care to impress their sups and directors so they can move up in ranking. People step on each other and throw each other under the bus to get ahead. That is the culture and moral of this place. People live in fear of losing their jobs. People are cold here, they act like they're interested in you personally, but they just care about themselves and how to get ahead. It is a rotating door and people are getting fired left and right. - There is SO MUCH constant change, they will keep saying that you need to embrace change, but HUGE changes and re-organizations keep happening every other day, there is no way to keep up with it at all. - No training or help for new employees. They are expected to know anything and everything, and if you don't, you are fired. They don't even allow you to get your things, they just show you the door and ship your things to you. - Employees are not valued at all, their opinions and ideas don't matter, and if they make a mistake, they get talked to and fired immediately. There is no room for error except for those in upper management. - Favoritism runs rampant. One person can make errors, come in late, take time off, work from home if the boss likes you. And the same person with the same title, time of employment is equal, except they are a woman, and make a mistake, it's looked down upon and they get fired for doing the exact same thing.

Pros

The company pushes for more and more from the bottom level employees without better pay. I worked there before the restructuring and; not much can make me cry, but working here sure did, even back then. I can’t imagine how anxiety inducing it must be to work there now. Animal welfare is a complete non-concern. The only thing that’s pushed is sell, sell, sell. It’s borderline dystopian. Bad management seems to be a common issue, not only from my experience, but many others’ as well. I worked until I was an exhausted sweaty mess to make sure everything in pet care or, when I groomed, the salon, was cleaned to perfection as expected of me (and I reiterate: “me,” because these standards were not expected of my co-workers, just me) and overall felt very unseen. The only times I did feel “seen,” was when mistakes were made. Work was treated like boot camp. A co-worker that was subtley targeting/bullying me, and even started rumors accusing me of racist remarks(!!!), was promoted and anything I reported was downplayed because they were friends with the assistant manager. Working here was an overall traumatizing experience.

Cons

Employees are expected to be work-robots
