Pros

Simply none. Run far away.

Cons

I simply don't know where to begin with this sorry excuse of a veterinary clinic. The stuff witnessed are grounds for malpractice lawsuits, and simply a toxic work environment. To say I wouldn't bring my own pets to any of this company's locations is an understatement. For example a FB surgery that foreign material was left in a pet on purpose, and sent the pet home with no overnight care, ruptured bladders, a non-emergent cherry eye sx on a 12 week old puppy the list goes on. Not only are these surgeries questionable to be performed at a GP clinic, they are being praised for the sad outcomes. The virtual care department is treated as less then, even though upper management likes to scream how ground breaking and revolutionary it is to the vet industry. Virtual Care is ignored, our talents underutilized, and not considered for any advancement. The virtual care team are the most knowledgable techs that are employed by this place but our concerns are laughed at and ignored. Being told there was room for career advancement and opportunity, but upon being hired no one on the virtual care has seen any sort of advancement or career growth opportunities. The VC team is constantly blamed for when clients don't show up for there appointments, or records aren't received. We have been told that we need to be "perfect" which is a slap in the face because the standard of medical care here are barbaric at best. Also favoritism exists so blatantly with in virtual care because one is tight with the management. Allowed to clock in and not clock out as she pleases. Have other employees keep an eye out on her workload so she can do nothing. Collect overtime to handle special tasks that no else is assigned or given the opportunity to do. Now to talk about the elephant in the room, the prices. An $89 exam fee is ridiculous and not at all comparable to near by vet clinics. No part of the care here is worth $9 let alone $89. Not only that but we are shunned and told not to tell owners prices unless asked and not to mention any coupons that can help owners out. I genuinely feel that i have compromised my morals and values to have worked here even for a short time. Overall, I don't recommend working here to anyone. This place is a disaster and lawsuits waiting to happen. Please run far away from this company.

Petfolk Response

Petfolk always puts excellent medical care at the center of our business. Our structure is unique in that we have professionals both in our Pet Care Centers and working virtually to support our veterinary teams. This can present unique situations where our virtual teammates have some knowledge, but not full visibility on the daily details of cases. Our medical leadership and doctors continually review medical cases and our veterinarian network encourages collaboration to ensure the best quality of care for all pets. We will continue to work to educate and support all Petfolk teammates on the high medical standards we hold and solicit feedback and encourage discussion on any concerns that may arise. Our veterinarian led team is always available to review and advise on Petfolk cases and care.

Pros

I’ve worked in HR in organizations that have grown through acquisitions, and one thing I’ve always seen is how hard it can be to maintain a consistent culture when you’re integrating lots of different legacy practices. One of the things I really appreciate about Petfolk is that our de novo model allows us to build our culture intentionally from the ground up. When we open a new Pet Care Center, we’re bringing in teams that are aligned around the same values and way of working from day one. I also really appreciate that we’re a technology-forward veterinary company. We’re constantly thinking about how technology can support better workflows, better communication, and ultimately better care for pets and a better experience for the teams providing that care. Another thing that stands out is that we are very metrics-driven. In veterinary medicine there can sometimes be hesitation around data, but here it’s used in a way that supports better decision-making and helps teams focus on providing the best medicine possible.

Cons

Because of our growth, the environment is fast-paced. Not everything is fully built yet, and sometimes we’re figuring things out as we grow. For people who prefer a very structured, long-established organization, that may feel challenging. But for people who enjoy building and improving things, it’s actually one of the most rewarding parts of working here.
