Pros

+ The satisfaction of contributing to medical devices that help improve people's lives + Generous healthcare and sick leave benefits

Cons

- The pay is average - Dis-functional/hostile/uncaring work environment - Low moral - High stress - No work/life balance - You'll have to give 110% just to keep your job - You'll have to give 150% just to get a stingy COLA raise - You'll have to "walk on water" and kiss a lot of a-- just to get a decent raise - You'll have to totally "drink the kool-aid" to have a chance for a promotion - You'll have to have the political skills of Bill Clinton to get (or keep) a promotion - Philips culls 10% of their work force every year so playing politics is more important than doing a good job - Even if your good work and metrics speak for themselves, if management doesn't like you they'll find a way to get rid of you - Management has an uncaring, entitlement, and slave-driving attitude: they are the Lords and the employees are the Serfs; if you don't like it, there are plenty of Serfs out there who can replace you! - Company has totally taken advantage of the recession by cutting staff, increasing workloads, decreasing pay and benefits, and cajoling their employees to be “more productive” under the threat of unemployment.

Pros

The people in non- upper management roles that work there are fantastic. Great sense of community onsite and the culture champions are consistently looking for ways to make work life better.

Cons

Very poor communication on the strategy for the business unit. Leadership publicly promotes innovation and new ideas to be presented but then those ideas are shot down or penalized in private by current upper management. The business unit leadership says that don't want excuses for project delays but will then decide to do 3 major layoffs in the first two quarters with no transition plan, no support for gap in resources and no expectations to delayed progress.
