Pros

There's an opportunity to make a lot of money here if you're willing to sacrifice your morals & individuality. If you're not very smart, didn't go to college, and are looking for a gig with a lot of other basic people who like sports and speed, this place is actually probably a godsend and you'll love it here. They also do go out of their way to hire good, hardworking people; it generally won't be the case that you'll work the hardest and get paid the same as the slacker next to you. They offer OK health insurance and a 401K plan that will kick in a year and a half after your start date.

Cons

Women are mainly hired for show - the top performing women when I was working there weren't invited out with the boy's club on any of their (very cool) company-paid excursions and only held leadership roles in their "HR" department. The HR department also isn't real. Also, everything is scripted - from the sales pitch to every position in HR. So again, great if you weren't blessed with a brain, but really tedious and weird if you were. You're going to have the exact same conversation with every single person you talk to every day. Sales reps positions were 100% commission-based, and marketers work in all weather, even if it's 0 degrees in a snowstorm. They're, like, tragically into the status quo here.

Pros

After 15 years with the company, the biggest positive has always been the employee-focused culture. They genuinely invest in creating a good work environment, from modern office spaces and great amenities to company events, conferences, and even trips that help build team culture. The flexibility in BT to work remotely part of the week has been a huge benefit for work-life balance, especially with a family. Compensation is competitive within the home remodeling industry, and the company offers solid benefits like 401K and private health insurance. There are also opportunities to grow and learn if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Cons

One challenge is that career growth and promotions don’t always align with seniority or long-term loyalty, which can sometimes feel discouraging after many years with the company. For employees in tech-focused roles, compensation can feel a bit below market compared to the broader tech industry, even though bonuses can help offset that in strong years. Raises without a promotion are usually modest, and while the health insurance is decent overall, coverage for some major medical needs could definitely be improved.
