Pros

Great coworkers, employee benefits, summer Fridays.

Cons

Flexibility and work life balance are a HUGE con at Ross. Mixed flexibility based on who you work for but only getting stricter across the board. Upper management promised to keep a hybrid schedule and after a year of not hitting financial targets and not paying bonuses they are blaming the merchant team and punishing us by now mandating all buyers to be in the office 4 days every single week. They lied to recent new hires about the hybrid model and now these associates are pissed because did not sign up for this. The company has showed us that they are complete liars. People have made life decisions about where to live and childcare based on being in the office 3 days a week at most. A lot of associates have lost complete trust in this company, me being one of them.. which is so sad because it used to be a great place to work. If they didn't lie to us and break our trust, I know a lot of employees wouldn't be seeking other opportunities. What's next? Fridays??? Company moral is at an all time low.. CEO uses her experience as a benchmark and a standard for all (ie long commute, no work like balance) but she needs to get a clue because through the past few years we have had a rude awaking of how much we are sacrificing for Ross and don't feel we are valued with the lack of flexibility. There is complete disregard to employees lives and what sacrifices we make for this company. The company is going to loose so much great talent.

Pros

All of my coworkers were wonderful. No high school drama. Boss was flexible and understanding, although he always liked it if you said you could work more hours. The employee discount is pretty awesome. The work wasn't bad and rude customers were rare.

Cons

There was pressure to come in even when you were sick. Pay wasn't the greatest; it usually stayed ahead of minimum wage, but by no means kept up with inflation. Visits from corporate often meant a new change in procedures that had been working and demands that were somewhat unreasonable given the constraints of the layout or number of employees available.
