Pros
I've been employed at Scout since the very first day, and I've watched it grow from a handful of people to literally knocking down walls in our office space to fit the ever-increasing number of new team members that are joining us. Our business itself has grown even faster in the same amount of time, and it all leads to an atmosphere that is very exciting.
Scout hires "Believers" that can see how revolutionary the marketplace can be. And they hire great people. There is not a single person in the office that I wouldn't want to spend time with outside of work.
The leadership, President Sean Bisceglia and CEO Ken Lazarus, bring an extraordinary amount of experience and knowledge to Scout. They have both been successful with other start-ups, and have put Scout in the direction to succeed as well. A great part of being in a (previously) small company is that you get the rare opportunity of working so close with the leadership. There is also a sense of loyalty I've received from both Sean and Ken that makes it easy to be loyal in return.
Cons
Working in a start-up atmosphere is not for the faint of heart. I've never had the same work day twice. Our goals and objectives change all the time, and it takes a lot of motivation to keep up. Employees are asked all the time to do work that didn't exactly fall in their "Job Description". However, Scout hires the type of workers that seek to do more work than they are asked. Taking on more adds experience you won't find in more structured work environments.
