Pros

Employees in the editorial and events departments get to travel for free to many great locations. The magazine itself is a beautiful finished product, and the events are always fun and well received by clients.

Cons

The success of the company comes at the expense of the workers, who are never valued and viewed as dispensable. The husband/wife team that own this business are the most horrible people you will ever meet. There's a reason this company consistently has a 75 percent turnover rate...the ownership creates a negative and toxic atmosphere that poisons what COULD be a great workplace, but isn't . Every day employees are subjected to verbal and psychological abuse from the narcissistic wife or the arrogant husband. They pit employees against each other to create a divisive environment. There is absolutely no work/life balance. The benefits are terrible... most workers get just two weeks of PTO, which covers sick leave and vacation time. There are hardly any paid holidays, and due to deadlines employees are often expected to work on them anyway. Steer clear of this awful place. You will get sucked in, give it your all, and get relatively little satisfaction for your efforts.

oh darn, we wish you had a better experience. We wonder if you were here for the long 4th of July holiday we gave all? We have lunch with each other everyday- did you get left out? Did you not get to experience our company parties and contest where employees won so many prizes? Did you get a massage daily in our zen room? I feel bad if you were left out, we like to include everyone in the fun. We are very sorry that you feel this way, no one ever complained as we love to hear from our team and make adjustments regularly. We appreciate your feedback- disappointed that you got such a different experience than the majority of our team.

Pros

The rare job that offers meaningful work, travel and a tangible product at the end of the month.

Cons

It really is a team effort so one negative person can change the dynamic but it is filled with talented, dedicated team members so the overall vibe is always positive.

Pros

Great products. Extraordinary events. Majority of the team is enjoyable to work with. Hybrid model.

Cons

•Poor leadership with a micromanaging owner who has created a challenging work environment. •Work-life balance is not valued; leaving the office at 5 PM is often looked down upon, with expectations to stay until 6-8 PM. •Travel can be enjoyable, but it often requires giving up weekends once or twice a month without additional time off to compensate. •While the team is small and committed, the workload is overwhelming, leading to potential burnout. There’s little downtime, and you’re always on the road and on tight deadlines. •Reporting issues: Revenue numbers often don’t align with commission reporting, requiring additional work to reconcile and ensure proper pay. This stems from poor systems, not staff errors. •The office is dog-friendly, which can be distracting in open spaces, especially during sales calls. Pets can sometimes cause disruptions, including accidents in common areas. •The office carpet is old, and certain areas of the office have unpleasant odors that can be off-putting. •While there are many plants in the office, small pests can be a nuisance at times. •Limited training opportunities make it difficult to feel supported in learning and development.
