Pros
This is a company that truly cares about their employees and their customers. What other company has the principle "Caring is not Optional" up on their wall?! Smokeball management understands how important it is to build a culture that makes people want to come to work. These are genuinely nice people who want to be successful, but not at the cost of their employees. Every decision is made with the overall goal of the company and best interest of the employees in mind. I know there is mention of layoffs in other reviews, so I'd like to briefly touch on it. This was an unfortunate moment that is common in the life of a startup. Smokeball grew too quickly and it was either lose some employees or eventually all of them. I saw how tough that day was on the management of Smokeball and I don't fault them for their decisions. They knew it was a terrible day for the people they let go and they felt it themselves. It's a mistake they will never make again. Again, these are sincerely kind people. This was not my first job, so I'm not coming at this from a naive standpoint. I have seen how other companies are run and how miserable a terrible work environment can make employees. Smokeball is the best company I have worked for. I decided to make a career change and it was with an incredibly heavy heart that I needed to leave. If I had found my life's passion in my role at Smokeball, I would have never left. Also, just because these are fantastic perks worth mentioning: the office is absolutely beautiful. There is a stocked fridge, monthly massages, a pool table, a pop-a-shot basketball game, and a ping pong table that gets used extensively. Monthly happy hours in the office encourage friendships between the employees. The company also does volunteer work. Like I said, a truly incredible place to work! P.S. The product is just as good as the job.
Cons
It's a start-up, so expect growing pains.
