Pros

Stability - steady work and peace of mind knowing that full time work is available. Flexibility - flexible work schedules and ample vacation as well as personal leave are also available. Retirement options - while most employers are doing away with benefits, St Louis County offers a retirement/pension plan as well as other options for deferred compensation. Variety of jobs - government work does not have to be behind a desk. There are jobs ranging from forestry and environment health, to public health, public works, computers, social work, human resources, accounting and more.

Cons

Although the County is the largest East of the Mississippi, it is mostly rural area. The number of opportunities are limited compared to that of a metropolitan area.

Pros

Union agency. No surprises. A lot of training in areas is encouraged. Great people.

Cons

The contract sets your days off, pay, insurance, etc. You just decide if you want it. It can be disappointing.

Pros

Good benifits, they used to be so much better.

Cons

Management and team leads often fail to do their jobs. Career team lead position is a joke. Has been caught hiding and refusing to work on multiple occasions. When said issues are brought up the ladder they are quickly ignored and excused. If you want equal work and equal pay do not apply. No room to advance/ no training to improve offered. Dead end career.
