Pros

The organization has a strong mission and vision.

Cons

There is very high employee turnover, and for good reason. Instructors and low-level employees do all the work and are wildly underpaid. The reporting team provides fake data to the state, accrediting body, and funding partners. Every department is at odds with each other. Human resources defends bad management at all costs.

Pros

I truly enjoyed working with students and preparing them for new careers.

Cons

I believe this could be a great place to work with different management. The manager I interviewed with at Summit lied during my interview and told me that someone new would be hired to run additional programming. Then, a couple of months into working there, those responsibilities were forced on the existing instructors, making my job significantly more stressful. We had no choice in the matter, and they took no accountability for the fact that this wasn't in any of our job descriptions, and they'd told me something different very recently. I share this story because it represents what's at the core of Summit's management style: they don't seem to care about the people actually doing the day-to-day work that keeps the company running, the people who are doing the work of carrying out their mission. They don't reflect for the values they claim to have as an organization. Management will change whatever they want to change (or not change), and you just have to deal with it. If you try to speak up for yourself, they will retaliate and slowly make your job worse until quitting feels like the only option. This is the culture this company's leaders have created. It's disappointing because I had such a great experience working with many of the students and instructors here.
