Pros

Easy employment process, they do seem to have job availability.

Cons

They are a contracting company who recruits for temporary roles at other companies. The recruiters I worked with had little knowledge of the positions, and was placed at 2 seperate companies that lacked a solid IT department. I quit the position the recruiter first placed me at because it ended up not being an IT related position. The company was hiring bodies to fill a contract with the state and the work assigned fell more into a data entry role. The company also docked my pay claiming I took a extra break all week then was allowed. Teksystems would not back me up and only offered a $20 gift card to help cover the lost wages, which did not come close to the amount I was docked for the week. Another new hire and myself where both told by the Manager we had two 15 minute breaks and a half hour lunch that could be taken at any time, but then this manager claimed a week later she never told us we could have a 15 minute break. Between falsifying the roles job duties and then docking my paychecks hours I let Teksystems know I would not be returning. Several years later I thought I would give Teksystems another try only to be placed into a new company role as Help Desk Specialist. The department was poorly ran, with little to no training and thrown on the phones to wing it. After 6 months the contract ended and I decided not to continue my employment with the company or Teksystems. Teksystems also does not offer benefits or they are limited. No PTO options and missing a day for illness is frowned apon, even after 90 days.

Pros

- Decent pay to start. - Account manager is responsive, engaging, and a serious advocate for you and your contract. - Gain access to Udemy Business to build more skills.

Cons

- The benefits suck. - High recruiter turnover with highly variable experience trying to work with them-- some are good, most are not. - Once you are placed, you will be promised regular meetings and then never hear from the recruiter again. - Trying to find a new contract if you are unhappy with your current placement is nearly impossible and I don't believe they are incentivized to help you move at all. - You have to manually request a raise and depending on how you negotiated your contract, you may or may not have the ability to receive one. - There is a cap to how much they will pay you for the contract so even if you work that position 4 years, once you hit that cap you are stuck. I originally submitted my resume with TekSystems when I had finished my degree and never heard back. Many years later, I was approached on LinkedIn by a TekSystems recruiter for a position and he had no idea I was in the system previously. Working with him was good, and I did get the position. Then I never heard from him again and I've had 4 or 5 different recruiters whose names I could not tell you if I tried since then. There's supposed to be monthly calls, they never happen.
