Pros

Extremely important mission of providing a place for the unsheltered and alone to die with dignity. Very dedicated staff and amazing volunteers.

Cons

Began as a home setting and is now a licensed assisted living. Spends a lot of time on meetings. A ton of gossip and backstabbing. Despite a lot of talk about diversity and inclusion the executive team and board are almost entirely white and none with shared experience to those they are serving. There was also a lot of talk about supporting staff during the tough covid year but it didn’t extend to all staff. So for some we made accommodations and others not at all. I was on short term disability when I found I was demoted by seeing my job title changed on our website, a week later I had been locked out of email and then I was fired. The board chair promised to have a conversation with me as he had sat down with every other employee and was sending out secret reviews on some staff but not all. That never happened. I have three different versions of a termination letter. While setting a date and time to clean out my office I was suddenly told they did it and then they rolled my belongings out of the building for me to pick up. Told the person over HR at the time of upsetting racial comments made in an executive team meeting and nothing was ever done about it. They have claimed some people have died in their care that have not. If you are looking to work for a company, this is your place, it is very business oriented. For some that is important, but if you are passionate about serving people you will meet many barriers in serving people in a meaningful way without putting them through a litany of questions that will possibly set them back but can secure more ways to bring in money. Needs of the staff to feel good overrule what is best for the clients.

Pros

Meaningful mission, competitive benefits and compensation

Cons

Leadership communicates poorly and sets unclear, frequently shifting expectations. Work–life balance is minimal, and workload often increases based on your position and how personally favored you are rather than on role clarity or fairness. Staff and residents are often spoken to in dismissive ways, which creates a judgmental and punitive atmosphere. The organization states that it follows Housing First and trauma-informed principles, but in practice many decisions appear to be driven by personal opinions rather than research or established best practices. This undermines both staff morale and the quality of care provided to residents. Many staff leave feeling emotionally exhausted, unsupported, and professionally discouraged. These issues stem from the tone, priorities, and communication style set at the top levels of executive leadership and shape the culture throughout the organization.

Pros

Work Schedule, great cause and most of the staff is awesome.

Cons

The building is literally falling apart. Drains are backing up. The heat an AC don't work. The ADA bathrooms are out order because the pipes broke in the dirt and thers is a fecal mote under the building - Seriously as of this writing. The three top managers think everything is 5 minutes. They even ran out of OTC tylenol and IBuprofen and didn't restock. Seriously - Contractors, perspective employees and residents - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE... IT IS TOXIC TO THE CORE.
