Pros

Travelers is quite likely the best thing that has ever happened to me. Having no prior insurance experience, I randomly found and applied for Travelers. I am a military spouse and had to leave my previously established career for a military move and Travelers couldn't have been in my cards at any better time. Through several difficult situations I have had to navigate, management has been entirely on point with their support and encouragement and I've never felt like anything that I have needed personally was an inconvenience. It's absolutely apparent that Travelers values their employees through their communications and actions. I love that this is a place of acceptance for all fully focused on career development and growth. I can honestly say I have never been happier in a career and couldn't feel luckier to be a part of this organization. I am truly looking forward to many years more of learning, fun and development!

Cons

The ONLY con I have is a personal problem and comes with the territory of remote work- I sometimes miss the in-office aspect of being able to communicate with my peers and since I have been able to develop close relationships with them through virtual means, I'd love to have the opportunity to meet them at some point. :)

Travelers Response

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It’s wonderful to hear how Travelers has supported you through your career transition as a military spouse and that you’ve found a supportive team, impactful work and opportunities for growth along the way. It’s especially meaningful that you’ve felt supported by leadership during challenges and have had the confidence to approach senior leaders when needed. We know military spouses often navigate unique circumstances, and we’re grateful for the unique strengths veterans and military spouses bring to our teams. We’re also proud to offer programs and support networks that help employees connect and support one another across Travelers. We also appreciated your comment about missing some of the in-office peer interaction while working remotely. The strong connections and sense of teamwork you described are such an important part of our culture, and it says a lot about the relationships you’ve built with your teammates, even while working virtually. As we recognize Military Appreciation Month and approach Memorial Day, we’re thankful for the service and sacrifices of military members, veterans and their families. Thank you for being part of the Travelers team.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
