Pros

Salary. Benefits. Recognition of talent and abilities. The people.

Cons

The Executive Committee released the return to work policy for the post pandemic world. The "hybrid" model of two days a week from home is the same policy we had prior to the pandemic. No new arrangements can be made with managers for six months after returning to the office, unless there is a case of extreme hardship. As a manager, I will no longer be able to determine what is the best way for my team to operate. Recruiting is hard enough without a policy that is out of step with others in the industry. There is no discussion of vaccine status, mask requirements, conference room capacity, or plans to regularly clean the office (emptying trash cans doesn't count as cleaning) and air vents. We are entering cold and flu season. There is no mention if health surveys will be required daily before returning to the office. As a manager, will I be required to send someone home at the first sniffle or cough? Will we have a mandatory stay at home for anyone exhibiting any symptoms of any kind? Leadership has had 18 months to come up with a plan for a new normal. Their proposed "Better Normal" is what we already had. Shame on management.

Pros

I love working for Travelers. It has a strong culture built on integrity and collaboration. Leadership is visible, accessible, and genuinely invested in the success of the business and its employees. There are real opportunities to grow your career here — the company promotes from within and supports professional development in meaningful ways. I've seen colleagues advance significantly, and I've had the same opportunity myself. Travelers truly cares about its customers and the value insurance brings. Great team atmosphere and tremendous co-workers. **Cons:** The pace is fast and the workload can be demanding, especially in Claims. This is not a 9-to-5 environment, and candidates should come in knowing that. That said, the expectations are clear and the work is meaningful. **Advice to Management:** Keep doing what you're doing. The culture and leadership here are genuinely differentiated — don't lose that as the company continues to grow.

Cons

I don't consider it a con but some might - the pace is fast and the workload can be challenging, especially in Claims. Company is cutting edge so you should be prepared for change and continuous development to meet the business environment. That said, the expectations are clear and the work is meaningful. If you like to be challenged this is a great place to have a career.
