Pros

- learning how to teach in a fast paced environment - good foundation for learning how to teach kids dance -great for someone who's independent and doesn't mind working alone - great if you're creative, love ballet, Disney, acting/ theatre, and childcare - fulfilling getting to watch kids fall in love with ballet - free Leotards and tights for recitals - you don't need an expert level of ballet knowledge or technique to teach here

Cons

- CHAOTIC; - they accept new enrollment every minute of the day, makeups are unlimited, so you will have new students every class of the day - because of all the new students, you will never be able to build on your weekly lessons - all the studios are too small for how many students (and parents) you will have on the dance floor, and it becomes dangerous when there's props - not only are parents watching you, but you are watched via nanny cam at all times - you need to be a behavior management expert with kids, and will need to be equipped to handle various behavioral issues (often times parents will not intervene with their own) - you are LIMITED to the school's curriculum and structure, which is not realistic for a 45 minute class. You will have 3-7 minutes per section, and need to hit all points within that time frame - finding a sub is almost impossible, and you will absolutely get sick with the frequency and amount of kids you see daily - when studio needs repairs, they will not be done after months of asking, even if it poses as a danger to others - your pay rate goes down for recitals / required work meetings and training - less focus on ballet and technique, more on fun, games and singing - zero room for growth or recognition - no benefits

Pros

Tutu school was such a welcoming environment to work in. The direct management and upper management were all so involved and supportive towards staff. All staff were also very collaborative in teaching style and tips. All while spreading the joy of music and movement for young dancers.

Cons

I did not have any negative experience.

Pros

Kind studio owner, understanding parents for the most part, super cute environment, good introduction to teaching or working with young kids and good pay

Cons

There's not a way to get a lot of hours here, so even with the better hourly rate than other jobs, it's only good for supplemental pay. I've been with this company for almost a year, and I loved it at first! However, you still need to stick to the curriculum from franchise which gets kind of repetitive for both teachers and students. You are also expected to work retail, sign students up, stay talking with parents, open and close, on top of teaching by yourself which gets really overwhelming. Enrollment also goes on all year round and it's hard to build on what they already learned with constant enrollment. There's not much variety we can do with the curriculum we are required to stick to. Birthday parties are also hard as it's an itinerary that is supposed to work for all ages. A party for a two year olds will be different for a party for 5 year olds. There also isn't time in the parties for families to enjoy food they brought and I've gotten complaints on a past birthday party that the older guests just sit and watch. Hard to please everyone here.
