Pros

- learning how to teach in a fast paced environment - good foundation for learning how to teach kids dance -great for someone who's independent and doesn't mind working alone - great if you're creative, love ballet, Disney, acting/ theatre, and childcare - fulfilling getting to watch kids fall in love with ballet - free Leotards and tights for recitals - you don't need an expert level of ballet knowledge or technique to teach here

Cons

- CHAOTIC; - they accept new enrollment every minute of the day, makeups are unlimited, so you will have new students every class of the day - because of all the new students, you will never be able to build on your weekly lessons - all the studios are too small for how many students (and parents) you will have on the dance floor, and it becomes dangerous when there's props - not only are parents watching you, but you are watched via nanny cam at all times - you need to be a behavior management expert with kids, and will need to be equipped to handle various behavioral issues (often times parents will not intervene with their own) - you are LIMITED to the school's curriculum and structure, which is not realistic for a 45 minute class. You will have 3-7 minutes per section, and need to hit all points within that time frame - finding a sub is almost impossible, and you will absolutely get sick with the frequency and amount of kids you see daily - when studio needs repairs, they will not be done after months of asking, even if it poses as a danger to others - your pay rate goes down for recitals / required work meetings and training - less focus on ballet and technique, more on fun, games and singing - zero room for growth or recognition - no benefits

Pros

The schedule fits my needs I enjoy working with kids Parents are super nice

Cons

The manager has never been to any of the studios because she lives in another state You must be available for FaceTime meetings with the manager during your days off. If you don’t feel well or have a last minute emergency , you have almost need to proof it and find your own sub in slack or request it in Homebase They never told you will be recorded at all times and watched by the owner and the company. The owner was very unorganized when she hired me You have to teach , sell merchandise and make sure trials enroll, if kids stop showing up or enrollment drops you get fired . If you pointed out to the owner that the studios need some repairs or props are broken , she takes her own time to do it ( days or weeks) , she’s not aware of what the studios need.
