Pros
USAA really cares about its members and employees. I was trained as an auto and property insurance agent and felt good helping military members and their families. USAA hires a lot of veterans. I was there four years and every year, we got an extra paycheck (extra 80 hours) for a Christmas bonus and a bonus in February. Usually that one was 16-18%. The benefits are great, including up to $10k a year for almost any degree (they even opened it up to degrees that don't apply to the company, like nursing). The management was generally very helpful and wanted us to learn and be independent. The executive leadership was approachable and usually friendly. My teammates were great; we held potlucks and other team events. Every holiday calls for decorations and birthdays were celebrated. It was really a fun work environment.
Cons
It's a call center - you will be tied to your desk with a headset all day except for two twenty-minute breaks, a 35-minute lunch, and once a week one-hour team meetings. It's also difficult to move to other areas because your competition is other great candidates also trying to get off the phones.
