Pros

Self managed work, having a positive impact on students, easy to slot in time for sessions between lectures

Cons

Only a small amount of training. Worked out good for me but some other tutors would have benefited from more training.

Pros

Great faculty and administrative staff, interesting students with a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and languages, decent rate of pay for adjunct staff.

Cons

Unfortunately, there is no opportunity for casual, sessional, or adjunct lecturers and tutors to progress to full time (let alone tenured) positions - no matter how qualified and dedicated they are. None of your research time is subsidized, there is limited office space, and no job security.
