Pros

The pay is great Good super Easy commute

Cons

I’m in Victoria University International so can only speak for the environment in this department. Very toxic culture. Staff are fantastic and dedicated, but the senior management are unprofessional. Employees are disrespected and mistreated (there have even been a couple of instances where people were yelled at). No opportunities for professional development, these are mostly available to senior management only. Staff morale is low. There is a general aura of anxiety and stress in the office. The leadership are checked out both mentally and physically, sending emails or asking for help is frowned upon. The pay is great but not worth the emotional distress that you will experience.

Flexible time to teach, relax environment to work. Hands-on students and eager to learn and engage if you know to engage them.

Cons

The parking spots are limited.

Pros

Great faculty and administrative staff, interesting students with a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and languages, decent rate of pay for adjunct staff.

Cons

Unfortunately, there is no opportunity for casual, sessional, or adjunct lecturers and tutors to progress to full time (let alone tenured) positions - no matter how qualified and dedicated they are. None of your research time is subsidized, there is limited office space, and no job security.
