Horrible Place to Work - Play Coach Wagging Tails Pet Resort Employee Review

Pros

The dogs are pretty cute.

Cons

The owners don't care about employees because they know how fast the turnaround is so they treat newcomers horribly to remind them they are replaceable. They complain about how much employees are getting paid (in front of or around employees), but still continue to hire new people. Almost every shift gets cut, and a 40 hour work week is absolutely unattainable. The managers at both the Bloomington and Eagan locations like to yell at employees to remind them that they're not important, and treat everyone like they're stupid because they haven't been there for as long as the managers. There is no training, they throw you into the environment and yell at you when you do something wrong that you were never taught. Care for the dogs is the last thing on everyone's mind, no one enjoys the work place or atmosphere so the animals aren't taken care of enough and fights are very common. At the Bloomington location, a lot of the dogs that were banned from Eagan are allowed, because they care more about making money than they do about the safety of employees and other dogs.

Thank you for the feedback. However, there are quite a few untrue statements here. I know this review was made several years ago, I just realized that you can actually respond. Owners of the company care very much about their employees, hence why they do all company outings, give holiday bonuses, pizza parties, etc. Never once has an employee been told that they are replacement or yelled at them. Pay is 100% confidential information and not permitted to be shared. Employees, including managers can be terminated for even talking about it. Managers are in place to guide, train and work along their coworkers to ensure a great work environment. Since 2017, we have had a lot of growth and there have been 4 additional Managers put in place. Full time staff do get full time hours along with set schedules. One specifically for training staff, one for assisting the GM, one for our front desk. At WTPR, we 100% care about the dogs in our care. Over the years, we have sat with a sick dog at the Emergency vet for hours, brought special gifts for them, taken dogs home to give 24 hour care if needed, etc. Any dog that is "expelled" from our Eagan location is actually not allowed at our Bloomington location. The Bloomington location is bit smaller than Eagan and may be a better fit for a dog that needs a slower environment. However, we will offer special training if we feel we can help a dog succeed and overcome a behavior. If the dog can't, they will no longer be allowed at WTPR for the safety of other dogs and staff members. Management teams care greatly about our company and will input many additional hours to ensure that the team is fully staff and dogs are in a safe environment. Thank you again for the feedback. We appreciate as we strive to be the best and change policies and procedures to ensure a safe, fun environment not only for our dogs but our staff too! Hope you have better luck else where.

Pros

Caring owners and many of the guests (dogs and cats) became family.

Cons

The schedule was always different. Needed more of a routine.

Pros

Of course the dogs will always be the best thing about it, hence the reason of wanting to work there in the first place. The managers and owners are the first people to show that they actually care about the employees. & communication is KEY along with patience. I've thought at times they've forgotten things I've brought up to them, but they do listen and have made me feel like a valued employee. I've learned so much about the dogs and the staff there are always willing to answer and teach you anything you ask to better manage the dogs and improve! Management is understanding when issues that come up with attendance and are willing to step into the play yards as well to cover for people. The small cons are nothing compared to the many pros this place has.

Cons

Drama/ petty gossip on other staff (which will always be at any workplace) has been an occurring issue no matter how many times management addresses on it, it continues... Also It feels like there's not enough rule enforcement with the pcs in the play yards when watching the dogs
