Pros

-Pay and benefits are solid -Some genuinely talented people who lead with kindness

Cons

An upsetting professional experience. I wanted to believe in the mission of Wagmo: it's a solid offering in a growing market, it has cute branding, and it sold itself as being invested in employee wellbeing and growth. Instead, I was met with a company steered by a leadership team that has no place running a business. The CEO and COO are incompetent people leaders and project managers. They cannot make up their mind about positioning. Everything is framed as a negative. They say you need to be self-sufficient in your work, but then require a megalomaniacal level of oversight and micromanagement. They completely invalidated my work and I had to do 10x the reporting/explaining for the sole benefit and understanding of the COO on projects. With a company strategy that shifts every time the wind blows, you'll be expected to drop everything and sprint whenever they want. Everything is of equal (arbitrary) urgency, making prioritization impossible. They laughably use the motto "slow is smooth and smooth is fast" to disguise the internal chaos. We often had hours of pre-meetings to present something to the COO, and then even more hours to prepare to present the same exact content to the CEO. It was maddening, inefficient, and totally self-serving. At the expense of all of this is A) their customers and their product, which they've only just realized they should care about and B) more notably, their employees. Wagmo does not care about employee wellbeing or growth. We were told to use AI to generate performance and peer reviews. Raises are minimal. They claim there is a culture of feedback and growth, but it is not done in good faith. When I was let go, it was a complete blindside, and I was never given a reason beyond the two-word phrase "performance expectations." They never gave me a PIP, structure for growth, or any management or support, despite me making an action plan and repeatedly asking for feedback. They cut of all communications afterwards so I was unable to get clarity or meaningful feedback for improvement. Wagmo is all style, no substance. I encourage people to read other reviews (and the dates they were posted on) and draw your own conclusions. Unless you want to cater to an executive team's egos, I would stay far away.

Pros

Fast-paced, hardworking group, friendly & loves pets. The team is very passionate about helping pets and putting forth good work.

Cons

Some decisions are made without consulting how long it might take on the engineering side, which can be frustrating. Instead of hiring additional staff or promoting within, team members are stretched thinner to cover the load. Also, it often feels almost expected to work overtime/weekends to hit deadlines. Leading to burnout and low team morale. Benefits are bare minimum, but it is a startup.

Pros

The mission is catchy and can seem exciting

Cons

Be very, very careful taking a job here. As others have mentioned, the leadership team is extremely toxic. The CEO and COO love to say "operate without ego", but I have never met two individuals with bigger egos. It's a cultish power struggle, especially for the COO. She finds joy in bullying employees, instilling fear, and she's consistently shaming teammates in public. No one on the executive team can make up their minds either, so you're constantly chasing a moving target. It's by far the worst place I have ever worked, and I am so happy to have gotten out when I did.
