Sweat shop environment and be sure to take your vitamins to keep up. - Associate Walmart Employee Review

Pros

The work shift was convenient. The pay was adequate at the distribution center I worked at. The managers aren't breaking a sweat at all.

Cons

There is no air conditioning on the "dry side". The pace was a running pace in order to make quotas. There was a lot of sweating (soaked shirts and trousers). It may take 7 to 10 years to advance into management because there is little turn-over in management. There is a lot of turn-over with the regular hourlies, though. Unfortunately, this is one of the areas that Wal-Mart tries to save money so they can pass the savings onto the customer. Each employee is squeezed.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
