Poorly managed at the highest level - Brand Associate Yahoo Employee Review

Pros

Creature comforts, great health benefits if you're single

Cons

Executive team turnover is shocking, leads to regular directional shifts that prevent basic tasks from getting done. Marissa Mayer seems to not understand the needs of the company—an enormous salary goes to her which, if reduced, would save the company tremendously and reduce the need for sweeping layoffs, rumored to take place in early 2016.

Pros

Relatively easy to get things done for a company with such a long history. Certainly not "start up" like, but processes like resource allocation have less overhead than working at a company like Google. Pay was pretty good for the midwest. I hear they are currently pretty open to remote work. It's also not the hardest place to work.

Cons

Opportunities are limited in software engineering. Since Apollo took over, SE was viewed mostly under the lens of "what is the least we can invest here to get the job done". There used to be a really good office in Champaign with lots of very talented software engineers put together. That's gone now.
