Pros

You get weekly Friday lunch paid for by the company. Also some of the more junior attorneys, who are not managers, are very nice. Young crowd in general, which makes social events fun.

Cons

Where to begin... Management is horrendous. They promote loyalty over talent, When you make a mistake, they are more focused on finding someone to blame than fixing the problem, and they will hold it over your head for the rest of your time there. Management is not open to change at all, any suggestions you make will be taken as an attack on the "culture" of the firm, and it will immediately blacklist you. Work/Life balance is nonexistent. Everyone is completely overworked at this firm, and management simply does not care. When you try to point out that your team cannot take any additional tasks because they do not have sufficient hours in a day, you are immediately seen as lazy, uncooperative, and not a team player. Compensation is a joke. They like to say "we offer a competitive salary." That is simply not true. The salary they offer is nowhere close to what someone should be paid for the amount of work that you have to do. You will be better off working for a big firm, with the same mountains of work and way better salary. Also if you are an attorney, forget about having a personal life. You will have to be 24/7 at the beck and call of the clients. You will be forced to put your email on your phone. You will be forced to be legal assistant, paralegal, law clerk, and attorney throughout the weekend and holidays. Turnover is crazy. There is so much turnover that inexperienced people get place in senior positions simply because they survived the toxic environment, or they were clever enough to befriend some of the managers. One positive about this, for young attorneys, this is a great way to get experience fast, because when other attorneys (and in occasions, paralegals) leave you will be left with a mountain of work that you will need to learn to catch up on and be an expert on in a matter of hours. So learning to swim by throwing you into the shark infested pool. Lastly, there is no career advancement opportunities. They like to pretend there is, they set up a structure for different levels of attorneys which is nice, but it rewards people for loyalty and longevity more than actually competence. My advice for anyone considering taking a position here is that if you have to take it, you should have a clear vision of what you want to get from this company and be ready to leave as soon as the next opportunity presents itself. Do not plan on staying for over two years at most or you will be miserable, milk the experience for what it is worth and get out. In conclusion, heed the advice of the negative reviews on this site. Consider your options well before joining this company. I learned a lot here, but it also caused unnecessary headaches and strains in my life. Look at how many people find the negative reviews helpful.

Pros

Proximity to the metro, snacks and a really expensive espresso machine that broke down constantly, nice offices.

Cons

As stated in the previous reviews, everyone there is extremely unhappy. Salaries are way below the norm (more so because PLs are constantly pushed to their limits to push petitions out like an H-1B mill - obviously compromising the quality of the work), attorneys and paralegal are also disrespected constantly by the senior attorneys, since the is no HR department it is difficult for complaints or concerns to permeate through to the owner of the firm. This place is a horrible place to work if you want to maintain somewhat of a work-life balance. Several of the paralegals were asked to come on the weekends to complete ridiculous "urgent" tasks without being remunerated for their work. Turn around is extremely high so people's work get bummed off constantly - inducing to more unhappiness and chaos at the firm. Benefits are limited or non-existent also. There is really no growing room for paralegals or associate attorney. While working there I felt like I was back in high school - the office is run by a click of senior attorneys who control everything.

Pros

Lots of snacks. Metro accessible.

Cons

The politics in this office are unbelievable. It's impossible for someone who is not in the boss's "inner circle" to make their voice heard, raise issues or complaints, and demand change. All attempts to make this a better working environment were a complete failure. Once you have done the slightest thing to upset the Senior Attorneys, you are on their radar. The work-life balance here is non-existent. Paralegals were expected to work beyond the standard 9-5 work schedule (with no overtime pay), and those who left at 5 pm were made to feel ashamed that they were "letting down the team." There were even "team members" who would monitor the door at 5 pm to watch for those people who decided to leave. (This is not a joke.) EIG is definitely not "Perfect Plus," as their slogan likes to indicate. Senior Attorneys and Management are always quick to blame others for their mistakes. Senior Attorney made a mistake on a case? Blame the Associates. Associate lost or misplaced an important document? Blame the Paralegal. This is common practice at all levels within this firm. There is no Human Resources department to which you can bring any complaints or issues. All issues are funneled through the Senior Attorneys and Management. As a result, issues are subsequently swept under the rug and never addressed, and the vicious circle continues. Also, once you put in your notice, they will quickly make sure to erase any evidence that you ever worked for the firm. I wasn't even extended the courtesy of an exit interview. The turnover at this firm is out of control.
