THIS IS A SELLING ROLE

Pros

The people were pretty nice--you'll see that everyone gets kind of brainwashed about working there as they hold onto hopes of becoming a manager within the company as they promote from within. Managers get fun quirks like an annual R&R at a tropical place.

Cons

The pay is horrible--$12 an hour and you just rely on selling DirectTV in hopes of getting a bigger paycheck. Their structure is basically a pyramid scheme--you sell your little heart out with as many DirectTV installments so that you can make money (you earn $120 per installment, and mind you...it's hard to even just make ONE installment in a five-hour shift), and then you become a corporate trainer where you start recruiting your OWN team of salespeople to keep selling DirectTV, and then you become a manager where you oversee your corporate trainees AND their teams...and with every installment your team members make you earn an additional $22 as a manager.

Pros

It is a great atmosphere and has a strong team dynamic. Everyone was very willing to work with you on your strategy and your presentation. It was a fast learning process and easy to keep up. The President was very hands on and open to working with you and helping you advance in the company quickly.

Cons

There are certain sales goals you must meet in order to advance. You must be an outgoing people person and able to openly talk to anyone.

Pros

The management training program is extremely hands on. For someone like me, who learns by doing, this position is great for learning leadership, training and business skills. There is always something new and the growth potential is phenomenal. The office culture is awesome. I played sports in the past and I love the team dynamic. Everyone is invested in everyone else's success so that creates a positive but still competitive environment. There is also a great support structure throughout the larger organization. If you are willing to network, there is always someone willing to teach you something new. With EMG, I've had the opportunity to travel, teach and make personal decisions (with guidance of course) in a very short amount of time. If you're looking for a position with room to grow with people that will push you to improve yourself, this is the job for you.

Cons

Because this is a management position, it does require some flexibility in order to adapt to various situations. If your are used to an hourly position, it may take a while to adjust to the expectations of this company. If you're not not self-motivated or willing to learn new ways of doing things, this isn't going to be the job for you. It takes a specific kind of person to be successful at this position, so I recommend asking lots of questions during the interview process to see if it is a good fit for you.
