Pros

You have an opportunity to help commercial and residential customers and their gratitude can be extremely satisfying. Atmosphere was pretty laid back and they are very flexible for part time students that are also taking classes or are in high school.

Cons

Lets get one thing out of the way. If you are working here part time be prepared to be paid minimum wage and never get a raise. Even if you are working Full Time expect to not be paid what you deserve and fight tooth and nail for every raise you get. A part timer can make more as a new employee at Casey's or McDonalds The billable system is flawed, and if you are working on the residential bench management will hound you over billable that was designed around commercial contract billable. This leads to bonuses based on billable being hard to get on the bench unless you cherry pick easily fixable machines. Most all management duties have been piled onto one person and they do not have the ability to keep track of everything. This is not due to any lack of their ability it is just that they are doing a job meant for 2 people. This leads to your direct manager being constantly stressed and work will be sloppy/go unfinished/or forgotten entirely. Different people in management will also give you different answers to your questions. They are not on the same page all the time and seem to have different philosophies when handling customers. Employee retention is terrible due to low rate of pay and high expectations. Management will constantly ask you to put in more work but when you do they will avoid yearly reviews and pay raises. Promises of reviews are regularly broken or delayed for months. Sometimes being ignored altogether.

Pros

I always liked the people at Facet/Nerds on Call. Management is made up of good people who seem to spend time at all the locations. People are knowledgeable and work hard, no slackers. Some people complain about the billable system but as long as you actually do your work then you have nothing to worry about. Good procedures and clear instructions on what to do, helpful because a lot of customers can be hard to deal with. Coworkers are always willing to answer questions and help with issues. Youre held to a high standard but that means less customers leave unhappy. They'll pay for your certifications to help you advance. Some people have worked here for a long time and get promoted for getting degrees and certs. They let you do what you need to and give room to grow if youre smart and motivated

Cons

You do have to work with customers, and they are sometimes a pain. Some people here can be nasty and I dont know why, there are a few employees who are always rude when everyone else is helpful and nice. Pay is pretty standard for repair work but most of the techs dont have degrees. It's a small business and a low stress job, so its pretty alright
