Pros

FareStart generally hires good staff who are there to support the mission.

Cons

The unrelenting innovation and never-ending changes, are unsustainable and push those same awesome staff to burnout before quitting. There is a lot of talk from the org about the importance of Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Yet, you only need to talk to the Black and Brown current and former employees to know that the org does not value them, only their labor. Low salaries, low salary transparency. Not clear opportunity for advancement in any department. Top down organization. SLT does not like hearing negative feedback from staff even if it could help. They would rather fumble first then take staff feedback.

Horrible Leadership. Every. Single. Time.

Pros

Those who *actually* do the work are so nice, gracious, community-change minded people.

Cons

Senior Leadership is predatory towards minority communities. They hire folks, specifically BIPOC folks, and then preach DEI but only support themselves and leave anyone working outside of a leadership role in low-paying, poorly supported positions. Stop asking your employees to do the DEI work and do it yourselves. Funny how, through all of the job cuts, SLT is making a ton of money (even some with raises) while those who are doing the actual work got laid-off. Stop giving yourself raises and start taking care of your minority workers.

Pros

Good mission that gives students plenty of resources for life / situation improvement

Cons

High turnover, inconsistent kitchen leadership, and advancement is not encouraged. Pacific Tower venue is a nightmare for catered events. The kitchen and event space are on 2 separate floors and food is often prepared offsite despite having a fully functional kitchen.
