I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Experience living in new places (usually state or nation capitals).
Make friends with the people you work with. Fast has a mix of introverted and extroverted people with a wide variety of interests. Whether it's working out, hanging out for a beer or working math problems just for the fun of it, Fasties have a inclusive community that brings us together in and out of work.
The Fast partners and directors are genuinely good people who exemplify the Fast culture in their work ethic and humility. The are very approachable and open to talking with anyone who reaches out to them.
Fast is a growing company with a lot of exciting opportunities ahead.

    Cons

Most positions will require willingness to move. Usually you stay in one location for the length of the project, which tend to be 2 to 6 years. For some people, the moving is a con. For most Fasties it is a pro.

I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The way FAST treats their employees is one of the main reasons I have stayed with FAST. The salary and benefits are impressive. Despite FAST growing in size over the years, it still has a small company feel. Paid overtime, encouraged to use vacation time and take FAST Pause, they want you to have work/life balance. You are not shamed for going on vacation.
Small teams, so you can take ownership of tasks and shine within your team. Team setting is real, we help each other out.

    Cons

If you don't work on a project site or with the software, you may not get company wide recognition for your efforts. Administrative teams do a lot of behind the scenes tasks, but those details can be missed by owners.

I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - High hourly wage
    - Paid overtime in tech (1x base hourly pay)
    - Great company culture, regular team-building outings/events covered by Fast
    - Young, intelligent, kind, outgoing coworkers
    - Owners of the company really seem to care about their employees
    - Company is still growing, future is very bright, great job security
    - Move to different cities and experience different cultures
    - Benefits/health insurance are good
    - Given a lot of responsibilities early on / Allowed to work independently
    - Most employees are young/relatively new due to aggressive expansion which means a lower bar to becoming a lead/architect/manager
    - A lot of soft skills growth opportunities
    - Regular communication of how the company is doing, new opportunities/locations that we are bidding for
    - Get to spend time dealing with people, not just programming all day
    - Annual General Meeting means you and your family get flown out to a resort and treated to a great weekend (there are meetings during the day where you learn about how the company is doing)
    - Big parts of relocation are handled by the company (shipping, hotel for 2 weeks, flights, transporting your car and car rentals). Bonus/allowance of 6k to cover incidentals/supplementary hotel nights/etc.

    Cons

    - Expected to relocate every few years (typically). Relocating is tough. Missing family and friends. The company does not take care of EVERYTHING when it comes to a move. It will still be a pain.
    - Costs associated with travel to see family and friends
    - Might not get a lot of say in where you are relocating to.
    - Some locations are not great (state capitals typically, which can be small and out of the way)
    - If you're a hard-core developer, this might not be the right company for you. There are interesting opportunities with the Tech Team, which has 1-2 employees on each site. There are also a lot of really strong developers in the company who work in the Dev Center (Denver) or as Architects on sites, but these positions aren't the easiest to come by.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to improve Fast's culture. Use the tools you have created to track where people want to move and staff sites accordingly. Keep overtime low when possible. If at all possible, try to recombine AGM into one big event. It isn't quite the same not seeing half the people every year.

I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -good benefits
    -personable CEO and partners
    -moving opportunities

    Cons

    -moving
    -no flexibility in working hours
-little to no mental health support
-events are often centered around drinking, so if you don't enjoy drinking, you won't enjoy most team events

    Advice to Management

Employee burnout is a thing, and sticking around for my pause doesn't seem like a good enough reason to sacrifice my mental health. I was told nothing could be done to assist my mental health, which falls under disability.

I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

FAST does a great job taking care of its employees. This is certainly not a comprehensive list of all the pros, but these are a couple things that stand out to me:

    - FAST has great health insurance/benefits

    - You don't have to be a manager to make manager-type pay. If you are a good employee you will get paid like one even if you don't have the skills/desire to move into management.

    - FAST does a great job encouraging its employees to get involved in their community; there are abundant volunteer opportunities and fun local events to get involved in.

There are also a few things worth mentioning that have both an upside and a downside:

    - There is not a lot of room for advancement in software development; many of the skills learned are not applicable outside of FAST. However, there are a few skills learned that can be taken anywhere (not just software development positions). These include teamwork/communication, problem solving/logic, SQL, and BASIC coding skills.

    - You will work right alongside the state workers. This can be frustrating, especially during the beginning of a project when trust is still being built. However, this can be very rewarding as you begin to work through problems together and formulate solutions.

    - FAST can require long hours depending on what part of the project you are currently in. You are expected to be able/willing to put in extra hours, sometimes on short notice. However, FAST also compensates for any overtime fairly.

    - FAST also expects employees to be able/willing to move (sometimes with very short notice). This can be difficult with working spouses/children, but it can also be a great opportunity to travel/move at no expense to you.

If you are hired as an implementation consultant, it is important to remember that you are a consultant. There may be days that you spend most/all of the day coding/configuring the software, but you are expected to be able to consult with the state workers during this process.

    Cons

There isn't much to complain about with FAST, but there does tend to be a focus on alcohol/partying, and if that isn't your thing, it can be difficult to be involved in company activities. To be fair, that doesn't mean that there are never activities that don't involve alcohol, and management is always looking for new ideas. If you have activities that you would like to see happen, you are more than free to organize something or to communicate your ideas to the appropriate person.

    Advice to Management

There is a great focus on physical health which is fantastic! However, the job can be stressful and the hours long. It would be nice to see that same sort of focus on mental health and support for employees that are struggling.

    Pros

Very friendly environment; You will be working with young professionals; work hard play hard culture; excellent consulting experience; coding experience would depend on your project.

    Cons

Clients can be challenging at times; Over-time can be hard but you will be well compensated for that

I have been working at Fast Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Social events are larger sites. Lots of company bonding when there is a partner present. Partners are all personally and professionally philanthropic and are genuinely decent, kind people (no airs at all!).

    Cons

Smaller sites tend to be a little ignored, especially if there is no partner on-site. Seems larger sites have budgets for social events but smaller sites get very little.
Have to move every 2-3 years, which is difficult with spouse and children changing schools. Ok to move when young and single and enjoying travel but much harder as you age.
There are vast variances in the cost of living from site to site so it's hard to know if you are getting ahead and saving enough or not.

    Advice to Management

Try to treat all employees the same and keep in mind that those in the smaller sites feel a little left out sometimes.
