Pros

The mission of this organization is great and there are SOME staff that do genuinely care for the work and the young people that are served.

Cons

The organization is being run by an Executive team who is out of touch with the current needs to implement adaptive, diverse, just and inclusive work; as well as practices of tokenism that are discrete. The executive team has helped to foster a feeling of uncomfortability, hostility, fire-culture and extreme nepotism when it comes to the Board of Directors. There is little to no support for POC except for reactive policies that are not explored and understood by the Executive team before they are accepted. in this establishment and there is no urgency to create a welcoming environment that is free from prejudice and discrimination, even among the youth interns that are served. Ask others who have been involved in the organization before you apply to this organization. This culture is not conducive to understanding the need for suppporting staff through strenuous times. Especially staff that identify as BIPOC; there is also a need for more relational understanding of the LGBTQ+ community among majority of staff. Many conflicting priorites within the Executive team has led to near unmanageable workloads; and uncomfortability in expressing suggestions/ideas for organizational sustainability and growth.

Pros

Has assisted many foster youth in need. Good place to work if you are fresh out of high school, haven't worked anywhere in a long time, need to build your resume to move on to bigger and better things.

Cons

FosterClub is unorganized and unprofessional. You can see that from the VERY high turnover of employees, and the fact that they restructure the organization every few years. If you are interested in working here, talk to any former employee or former foster youth that has worked with them. The large majority will report negative experiences and even trauma from working there. People have uprooted their entire lives to move and work for this organization, and regret it immediately. For a "small staff" I can think of at least 10 former staff members who have been harmed by working there. Do not make the same mistakes we did.

Pros

The organization originally had good intentions to help foster youth.

Cons

I plead with anyone considering moving to Seaside to work with FosterClub, please please please reconsider, and talk to anyone who has left. FosterClub is a project led by a rich white woman who never experienced anything that she is leading. She is a business woman at heart, not a humanitarian and you will always see that reflected in the company practices. FosterClub is not a professional organization. They continue to re-traumatize the youth in the care, as well as their employees. They often seek POC, LGBTQIA+, and foster youth alumni to join their staff for the sake of "diversity", but there is no actual support for these staff members. Executive team is biased, harmful, and greedy. They want personal recognition and status and money, and no longer actually care for helping youth. They just want to become bigger and better, expand expand expand... but why? There is so little actual support happening, so little that they actually do. Consider joining the FC team if you: Enjoy working 60+ hours a week for bare minimum living wages Can handle a dozen different projects at once with no guidance or support from your team Care more about making FosterClub money than actually making a difference for youth in care
