Pros

-They will pay you a decent hourly wage as a bench jeweler

Cons

-They will not contribute to your health insurance. If you are an hourly employee, you are responsible for the entire cost. Ex: for low tier health insurance, about $5 is deducted for every hour your work as a full time employee. -They will deduct your weekly time card if you go over 40 hours to avoid paying overtime; even if you clocked in for that time. Furthermore, they will never communicate to you letting you know why that time is being deducted. -Little to no jeweler training. You are expected to know what you are doing and if you don't there's no effort to train you or allow you to grow as a jeweler. I was employed there for 1.5 years and all they had me do was clean and stamp castings all day long. -Terrible communication. Everything gets communicated last minute. For example, holiday overtime was communicated the weekend before. And management was always late to open the studio which prevented jewelers to be able to clock in on time.

Pros

You get to work with some really amazing people who are super talented and smart

Cons

The business owners are really weird and will pay you wayyyy below market price. They have a history of running their employees to the ground and literally do not care about you

Pros

There are some talented people on the team but the founders are not willing to pay a fair wage to keep them around.

Cons

So much disorganization and lack of communication between departments. The client experience really suffers because of this and there were constant daily fires to put out with frustrated customers. It would take much of my day to stay on top of all the missteps- between CAD design, procurement, shipping and the final customer experience handoff, many things fall through the cracks along the way. Management refuses to hold people accountable, leading to different departments pointing fingers at each other. Everyone seems to be in self preservation mode, and this creates tension in the workplace. As others have said, the founders (married couple- and yes very passive aggressive) have no idea how to run a jewelry business and it shows. Management is totally unresponsive to feedback (which is strange for a startup) and gave little feedback and zero coaching. The sales goals are outrageous and completely unattainable. I was working 50 hour weeks on salary with no thank you’s. You are but a number there so be prepared to be treated that way. I wish I read all the horrible Google reviews from frustrated customers before accepting this job.
