Pros

As a former educator and instructional coach, I was drawn to Goalbook's focus on supporting all students and the specific attention to improving instructional practice for all educators. I’ve been a District Success Manager for the past three years, where I support our partners as they implement Goalbook. One of my favorite parts of the role is strategizing with district leaders, helping them think through creative ways to solve instructional challenges, and then supporting them to execute their plan. I love interacting with our partners in person and traveling to deliver PD where I am able to see how beneficial our tool is for teachers around the country. As a company, I love the openness to feedback and growth. There is true dedication to leverage the unique experiences we all bring and to learn from one another. Things evolve and change constantly, which is a testament to the importance of awareness and reflection. In addition, the people that work at Goalbook are one of a kind - lunchtime and casual discussions are filled with humor and real talk.

Cons

Situated in the heart of Silicon Valley, building a diverse team is challenging. While we still have some work to do in this regard, Goalbook is committed to this work and understands the importance of our company reflecting the diversity in our schools.

Pros

Goalbook's mission truly guides the decisions we make in our daily work. As the Math Project Analyst, I get to think about how we can ensure that all our math content truly makes it possible to empower educators so that ALL students to succeed. The people here are so genuinely committed to the mission, and are also a highly intelligent and skilled bunch to collaborate with. The community at Goalbook is upbeat and positive; I believe this is a direct result of gathering a group of people working together towards a mission they each believe in!

Cons

Transitioning from working in a physical school building to a fully remote position can be jarring. However, the entire company is remote, and there are optional, weekly opportunities to connect informally with folks throughout the company, so that really helps! Goalbook is really strategic and intentional in making sure that we build a strong, remote community. There are also undeniable benefits to working from home!

Pros

Right from the beginning, I’ve had an amazing experience at Goalbook. I learned about Goalbook through a recruiter and I was not sure if I was ready to make the leap to a for-profit, education setting. I was content in my previous role and wasn’t on the job hunt. But from my first interview I found a passionate team, many of whom are former educators. I had two onsite interviews where I got to meet various team members. Everyone I met during the interview process was responsive and excited about helping educators be successful in the classroom. Now that I work here, the transition from nonprofit to for-profit has been seamless. Everyone is friendly and made me feel welcomed on my first day. At Goalbook I have colleagues who are mission-driven and committed to education -- similar to the teams I worked on in the education/nonprofit settings. Additionally, there are many opportunities to collaborate and build bonds across the various teams, such as partnerships and engineering, through the open workspace and team lunches. Goalbook makes it a point to ensure that everyone can continue their commitment to education while growing both personally and professionally.

Cons

None that I can think of so far
