Great work/life balance, small company

Pros

We're a small company and there's a ton of hands-on involvement. If you care about social purpose work, that's the majority of work here. Very pro-family.

Cons

Still figuring out post-pandemic culture. In my role, I miss the team being together more frequently.

Pros

Work is meaningful and interesting - Hiker works with a great mix of nonprofit and for-profit clients, so there is a wide variety of projects (web design, rebranding, social media, thought leadership/writing, creative projects, etc.) and the work feels impactful - for me, it was a great way to combine my more analytical/strategic skill set with work for mission-driven clients. The team is awesome - everyone I worked at with Hiker was creative, smart, and incredibly welcoming, even in a virtual space. I was constantly given both positive and constructive feedback - I've never felt as supported in a work place as I did during my time at Hiker. There are opportunities for growth - I was given chances to build new skills and learn about different parts of the industry on a regular basis. I felt like I was constantly learning which I loved. The company culture is collaborative and senior leadership is approachable with questions, feedback, issues, etc. There are real efforts being made to create community and company culture in a virtual space.

Cons

It takes some time to get to know people in a virtual space You'll be doing different kinds of work and working on multiple projects, so you need to be comfortable managing time and switching gears.

Pros

Kind, supportive, creative co-workers. Good work-life balance, especially since team is primarily operating remotely. Many of the clients / projects are nonprofit or mission oriented. This is a small team creating things that have a big impact. It's exciting to be a part of that. Benefits package has generous PTO, parental / life leave, sabbatical, etc.

Cons

Some internal processes could be improved, aspects of HR could be improved. Like a lot of companies, remote work is a challenge for figuring out company values / culture. Lots of enthusiasm for creative ideas, but creative steam is often lost as projects drag on or internal resources become strained. This agency and team could be much larger with the right organization and drive.
