Pros
Work is meaningful and interesting - Hiker works with a great mix of nonprofit and for-profit clients, so there is a wide variety of projects (web design, rebranding, social media, thought leadership/writing, creative projects, etc.) and the work feels impactful - for me, it was a great way to combine my more analytical/strategic skill set with work for mission-driven clients. The team is awesome - everyone I worked at with Hiker was creative, smart, and incredibly welcoming, even in a virtual space. I was constantly given both positive and constructive feedback - I've never felt as supported in a work place as I did during my time at Hiker. There are opportunities for growth - I was given chances to build new skills and learn about different parts of the industry on a regular basis. I felt like I was constantly learning which I loved. The company culture is collaborative and senior leadership is approachable with questions, feedback, issues, etc. There are real efforts being made to create community and company culture in a virtual space.
Cons
It takes some time to get to know people in a virtual space You'll be doing different kinds of work and working on multiple projects, so you need to be comfortable managing time and switching gears.
