Pros

Option to work from home

Cons

- Leadership losing direction in what they are doing - Subject matter experts are led by people who have no expertise in a that field (e.g. data scientists & software engineers led by people with no such backgrounds) - Middle management gaslighting and would play mind games with you if they don't deem you to be on their side - Lack of transparency in leadership decisions, but they would ask transparency of you - Office politics is rampant, despite being touted to be a great place to work - Remuneration is below market, business is not making revenue to pay for competitive salary - Shifting systems and processes like shifting sands - Lack of proper onboarding procedure - Messy documentation - Lack of trust between team members - They would have high expectations of you, but don't give you the proper support and resources to make that happen. - Always wanting to extract the lack bit of juice out of you, they would send messages after working hours - Lack of career progression - Too many pointless meetings - Burnout rate is super high - Short tenure, may colleagues leave within 1 year. The CMO resigned after just 2 years in position

Pros

-Opportunity to work with people who are genuinely passionate about lifting others up and truly believe in the value offering and vision behind Hireup -Flexible hours and encouragement to pursue work/life balance -Great office environment and facilities

Cons

During the most recent period of scaling up: -Endless politics and general lack of direction gets in the way of actually getting stuff done. Competing interests between stakeholders and lack of communication between key individuals leads to little alignment and ongoing confusion regarding work priorities amongst the teams and individuals. -Development of company strategy isn’t inclusive of perspectives from different teams, and execution of strategy is directed rather than collaboratively achieved. A lack of shared accountability towards meeting company objectives means finger pointing is rife when things go wrong. -Team scaling strategy is very reactive and seems to be more about increasing the amount of bums on seats with little thought as to what value those individuals are going to add at a holistic level. Skilled individuals aren’t given opportunity to excel in their role or add value until they’ve been “given permission” to do the work they’ve been hired to do.

Pros

- Flexible working arrangements, some people drop down to part time for periods of time - Strong focus on improving the quality of life for people living with disability - Fortnightly personal development time - Good remuneration - 4 wellbeing days and 5 days for learning leave each year - Great CEO, personable and kind, genuinely trying to help people - Great CTO

Cons

- Internal politics was really bad at one point in time, has gotten a lot better in recent times - Slow-ish pace can be frustrating, especially with an increase in competition in the sector - General start-up/scale-up growing pains, uncertainty of role, or progression paths, these are also getting better though. - No equity or bonuses, understandable given the majority of the company's revenue comes from the NDIS, but still something you might want to consider.
