Perfect Company for Those With a True Entrepreneurial Spirit

Pros

Endless opportunities for professional development— almost all roles require you to be somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades, which translates to a lot of experience/exposure to a lot of projects in a short amount of time. Working for a fast-growing company isn't for the faint of heart, however, it is for those looking to work hard and make a difference. We are aligned in our growth, and it is motivating to see such incredible progress in such a short period of time.

Cons

The only real con I can think of is that we're a bit short-staffed at the moment, which is super normal for a company growing at the rate we're experiencing. It's clear that leadership has made recruitment a top priority though, so this will be alleviated with time.

Pros

The company offers unlimited PTO, which is a valuable benefit when workloads allow for it. It can help employees manage personal obligations and reduce burnout, though taking time off can be challenging due to the high demands. Many of the individual contributors are intelligent, hardworking, and genuinely kind. There is often a strong sense of camaraderie among peers, which makes the day-to-day more bearable and occasionally even rewarding. The electric vehicle infrastructure industry is mission-driven and fast-paced. For those passionate about clean energy, the work itself can feel meaningful, even when the internal culture makes it difficult to stay engaged. Employees often gain broad exposure to different areas of the business. Because of the lack of structure and clarity, there are many chances to learn by doing, which can benefit those early in their careers.

Cons

There are many reasons to steer clear of InCharge Energy, but the most glaring is the toxic and dysfunctional leadership starting at the very top. The C-suite is deeply involved in every minor detail, micromanaging to an absurd degree. Instead of providing strategic direction, they create bottlenecks, override teams, and undermine any sense of autonomy. It’s clear they don’t trust their own people and their behavior shows why they shouldn’t be trusted in return. The current departmental Directors and VPs are directionless and out of their depth. There’s no long-term vision, no structure, and no meaningful coaching or support. The go-to leadership tactic? Blame. Teams are set up to fail with unrealistic expectations. When things go wrong, employees are scapegoated instead of supported. Burnout is the norm. Most employees are working 12+ hour days, regularly, without any appreciation or acknowledgement. There’s no reward system, no incentive, and certainly no recognition. Just more work, more pressure, and more finger-pointing from above. Nepotism runs rampant. Family members of execs and leaders are handed senior roles they’re nowhere near qualified for, while more competent employees are overlooked and underappreciated. Promotions are based on connections, not capability. It’s incredibly demoralizing and has driven many great people out. The C-suite culture is toxic and ego-driven. Poor communication, secrecy, and a complete lack of empathy are the norm. It’s an environment fueled by fear, not inspiration. Bottom line: This is not a company that supports its people, values integrity, or builds for the future. If you care about your career, your sanity, or being part of a functional, ethical team, look elsewhere.

Pros

Unlimited PTO is quite nice Decent healthcare benefits

Cons

One of the most toxic work environments. This company claims to be "people first," but their actions say otherwise. I've seen shady, borderline illegal practices, including encouraging unpaid overtime and neglecting breaks, especially for salaried employees. While they've recently fixed some issues for hourly staff, likely due to fines, salaried employees still struggle with no real lunch breaks or respect for mental health. An employee survey promised change, but nothing improved. Instead, they rolled out layoffs with zero communication. Everyone is already burnt out and with this fresh new wave of layoffs, I suspect we will be even more burnt out. Leadership lacks direction, constantly shifting priorities without a clear strategy, and the company seems to value talkers over doers. Despite complaints about toxic leadership, upper management does nothing to address it.
