Pros

pool table, cookies, good company to train your mind and emotion in handling toxic bosses so you will be more equipped to go to other company

Cons

i wish to write more good stuff, but the experience being there is just a nightmare. FACT: Whatever you read on the bad review are mostly true. The good review are only sugarcoated by the current employee to balance the star rating. FACT: Even the good review was done as a request by management, and not by goodwill of the employee. The employee themselves who wrote it, hate the company, system, and especially the management. Surprise? If you're new, you are given few week of training, you will be surprised there's no proper system in place. Everything is messy. That's just a start 1) Some of the colleagues doesn't respect other races by talking in their language and left others hanging. 2) They will say lack of experience is welcome to the company too as there will be training provided. True, but if you the kind of person that is outspoken, they will find your fault every chance they can get and even create a fault that is not even yours to begin with (by they, i meant mostly by the COO) 3) They will squeeze your time as much as possible and demand you to work 7am to 9pm daily. Even if you're not required to do so. 4) Blame game is a norm by the COO. He will blame anyone, but never his own. 5) Un-professional code of conduct by the leadership 6) Your voice is heard if you have any comments, but be prepared to get backlash. P/S Never ever trust the COO or any of his words of kindness (oh, he wasn't even a kind, maybe you'll see his act of kindness once a year or so) . You will see a lot of people actually licking his back, just to ensure they're are safe and unharmed. People's believe that the COO brings no value to the company except marrying the CEO. The kind of person that have a small people energy. Outside appearance, will pretend to act arrogant and finding fault as his daily mantra. But inside, an afraid fragile person that afraid of any force coming to him. Careful if you want to work here, dont say we didn't warn you. *I swear every words are true, and nothing is except the truth

Pros

The workplace is one possible reason for a person to stay for more than 2 years. You are either always around friendly colleagues who will cheer you up (because the management give plenty of reasons for you to feel down), or you are fixed on getting profit sharing, maybe both. Professional Service (PS) a.k.a Software Tester a.k.a Business Analysis will always be the group of favorites as COO think that they are special people who can organize and deliver the project, handle customer, help in bringing in money. Whereas a developer is just a person who can read code because good programmer will be able to understand all logic by reading the existing code. Concept of documentation does not exist. So, if you feel that you have no talent in writing a single line of code after study IT course in your university (or maybe marketing/ economic/ math/ science) but still want to stick with IT industry for some reason (like don't want to waste your degree), you can always come and try your luck in Juris. Talent in programming is a bonus, not a necessity. They hired people that have Good English, just make sure you speak Good English. You can try to do your internship here, they have good internship allowance, maybe the highest allowance between others internship company. They will also make sure they squeeze every ringgit worth of work from you, because they are paying you. For software developer, a single good thing in this company is that you are not required to do all the coding. The PS will do the simple simple code, which is like generating report, some simple table just to create, update, remove and display (CRUD) with a framework called PhpLens (great product from CTO, used only in Juris), which allows PS do those sipmle task themselves. There are really a few PS that can generate a complex report just by themselves without developer write a single line of code. Maybe just 5 to 7 in the whole company, and they are leaving too. You will still required to be working long hours, because, you need to read and understand the code by yourselves, else you are not a good programmer (there is 0 documentation, if you are wondering there will be some notes in version control software you are wrong. There is no version control, the software is only installed so the COO can say "look. we have version control). A much heart warming act is, PS will go find those skillful senior programmer that have worked more than 2 years in the company to solve their issue, rather than you (a newbie/intern), because they want it to be solve A.S.A.P. (becuase it is 10PM at night). So, before you became experienced with their system, read the code. Those PS will eventually find you when they think you can solve their issue immediately. Don't worry, if they assigned a task that you cannot help them, they will not hesitate to go directly to your senior even your tech lead to get their problem resolved. Seriously, other than good colleagues with nice CEO and CTO, I really cannot think of what else worth to mention in this company, Pool Table? You will able to bring your laptop with you, maybe sometimes you still need that to finish up the document/checking email when you back in your house over the weekend. There is also activity monitoring software that they never mention to the newcomers. Advise for programmer, don't compare your salary with PS, after the first performance review, they is 100% chance of them having a higher salary than you. It's normal, just have a ice-cream and forget it.

Cons

If you want to read something about religion stuff others are talking in their review? hmm, most of it are true. But, you still able to climb up the rank, even though you are not christian (it helps), just that you need to have a good image/words from manager in front of COO, it can be skill or good words spread around. End of the day it is all about favoritism. If COO likes you, your appraisal will be smooth. Doesn't matter if you are good at your job, your team mates like you, your juniors respect you. If COO begins to not like you, start looking for another job instead of arguing with him. It's a waste of time. Agile methodology is practiced in the each project differently, but believe me, that is not agile. Agile is to constantly review what has gone wrong, and what can they do better next time. But it changed into water-gile as in Waterfall-Agile blend, they use KanBan, they use everything you need to see when you are talking agile, but, new task can always add in current sprint without removing any. Good luck with your WaAgile. Many industry experts have called it a failure but the smart people here like to make thing hard for no reason. Company will hire a lot of newbie every years, in the meantime, senior level are leaving one by one. Oh, I mean Senior Programmer those with skills. There are still a few damn good coders in the company, maybe that is why the high turnover rate of coders did not yet ring a bell to management as everything is still looks good as long as more money is being made year on year. Version control is just something happen only on the paper, as it did not benefit to PS work or project timelines. Company will not spend money/time on things did not benefit to project timelines or employee satisfaction. A quote by COO himself, "If you want to work on the agreed working hours (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), you can choose to switch to Helpdesk position from current position. You will be working from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as that is the company customer support operating time. But you should only expect a basic salary increament and basic bonus will be granted in yearly performance review. If you still looking forward to be working from agreed working hours with no OT, I can issue the command today, right now." So guys, just continue working. The longer you work everyday, the chances you getting good image in front COO which indirectly lead to your good bonus. Sing praise about him, talk nice things about him even though they are false, and he will reward you. Last but not least, work life "Integration", a great concept is being pushed by Management. Please share your reviews if anyone else is allowed to bring their kids to the work which is work-life integration, other than C level themselves. Family is the most important thing in life, I believe management also sharing this same view. They have no consideration for others time and life, as family will became much more important than work. All your employee should have their personal time back, other than giving it to the OT which caused by bad project timeline management.

Pros

You will get chance to work with talented people who can really inspire you to think out of the box to seek for solution. Some seniors are humble and willing to listen to you to solve the issue together.

Cons

For the cons of Juris, surprisingly it is not about the people who works in Juris, as most of the employees are the victims of this company, you will get up everyday hating to step into office to start your day, not because of the task assigned to you or the people you are working with, but how the bosses manage this company that causing difficulties to complete the project. Below are the reasons why I decided to put up the review and do not recommend you to join this company: Most important reason, Juris has good review review volume on Glassdoor during 'special' occasion, Jurisian can feel it, you might notice most of the good review are provided around the period Juris participates in Career Fair, or there is tender of a project. Turnover rate of the staff which I believe more than 30% a year is the best proof of the bad comments. The population of young newbies is another proof of this. Learn in hard way culture. You will be lucky if you meet those seniors that teaches and guides you patiently and gently. From my observation, some of the seniors were treated badly by the client, hence they believe that they need to train you in the same way in order to get you prepared to handle customer expectation. Please refer point 3 on the reason they were being treated badly by client (I am not blaming them for behaving this way as I noticed bosses practice the same and expect seniors to practice such behavior too). This leads to developing the staff becoming a high-IQ-but-low-EQ person. Stay strong if you are the one who are being trained, and be strong to retain the good characteristic of yourself for not becoming a person like them. No proper business knowledge training was provided to employees. The employees that being sent to client site bear the expectation from company that: ask professional question and not to show that you know nothing about this business. Trying to be realistic, I understand this is not a perfect world, I understand most of the consultancy firm might not know 100% on everything before providing solution to client, but company is expected to equip staff with skill on how to "ask professional question" when the staff know nothing but too clarify every single details from client. Staff learns from client instead of providing consultation. Another point about training, Juris willing to spend on staff to enroll staff into few days workshop such as 7 habits, crucial communication. The most important certificate that needed by an IT company - Project Management Professional Certification and Business Analyst Certification is not sponsored by company, is not required nor encouraged by company get them. Expectation towards employees. Juris is an organisation that willing to give opportunity to non-experienced leader to lead the team, when there is short of experienced resources to support the project. It is a good chance for those talented person to show their ability (with minimum guidance). However, the bad side about this, the appointed person bear the responsibilities to succeed the project (with minimum guidance). Rejecting this opportunity will be labeled as "not willing to take up the challenge, not willing to contribute when there is lack of resources". Accepting this > lack of experience on ensuring project meeting timeline > delay on project > project not considered success > performance is not up to expectation > bonus given will not be up to expectation too. Let's recall, who failed the resources arrangement at the first place? Who is the root cause of the project failure? Another point about expectation, during year end review, Juris gathers the feedback from your team member about your performance, which is"peer review". The confusion part remains unsolved is that the expectation towards different ranks are the same, the management has reviewed and revised the expectation for different rank however it took them more than 1 year to get this updated into system (this was still not reflected in system during year end 2017 review). Benefits. HR policy being revised every year. The entitlement to enjoy profit sharing is getting harder and harder each year. During year 2017, it was confirmed that half of the leave (or remaining leave?) can be converted into cash and another half can be carried forward. During year 2018, revised HR policy -- all leave needs to be cleared within first 3 months. This is a not so important point as the leave entitlement is 14 days for non-managerial ranking staff, which easily can be finished by taking 1.5 day leave each month, just for your reference if you are a workaholic who unable to clear all the leave, remember to check on changes of HR policy. 6. Last but not least, no work life balance.

We are sorry that you feel this way. With the level of unhappiness and anger that you have, we suggest that you talk to your career counsellor or talk to your direct reporting manager. The reason why we have instituted career counsellors who are not your direct reporting manager is so that there is another party that you can talk to within the company to voice your dissatisfaction and your views. We have multiple avenues for you to voice up if you are really interested in providing constructive feedback. Juris is known for growing heroes where the seniors spend time growing juniors. If you experience otherwise but you don't raise it up to a counsellor who can make a difference, the management would not know how to improve and rectify the situation if you choose to do this through an anonymous glassdoor posting. If you believe in opening up and you are willing to provide this advice to management, please take your own advice and do this in a constructive manner: talk to someone who can do something about your views. As for the company investing in soft skills such as Seven Habits and Crucial Conversations, this is because we believe in training our staff in life changing behaviour that can impact their work, including managing projects and working with team members and clients which requires people skills. We do not invest in PMP training because now we are in going into full agile training and our investment is not in the traditional waterfall project methodologies. We have recently just developed agile training workshops which we are going to roll out as part of the Heroes Training Academy initiatives. For your information, now our customers themselves (the banking institutions) are not asking for PMP certified project managers because the industry is going towards more agile implementation methodologies. As for having young people lead the teams, we have a culture of giving opportunity for young people to take leadership position and we have set up people in SPG and Code Central and other seniors to provide leadership and guidance. Every single person in the company is appointed a Direct Reporting Manager and an experienced Career Counsellor. There is no reason why a person who is taking a leadership position is not provided guidance. This does not mean the company does not have any failings, but it means that we learn together. This goes back to your advice of opening up. If you truly believe in opening up, talk to your counsellor or someone within the company. If you have the courage, talk to management. We don't want anyone to come in so unhappy to perform work. You either run with the company vision or you don't.
