toxic culture and lack of leadership

Pros

The Southern Water building is quite nice, canteen food nice too.

Cons

• Internal Procedures: The company's handling of formal grievances and internal investigations appears to lack consistency with stated procedures. When I raised concerns through the proper channels, the follow-through and adherence to process were inadequate. • Workplace Culture: I experienced and observed a workplace culture that felt unwelcoming. I personally received inappropriate and disrespectful comments regarding my gender identity. This created a hostile environment. • Management & Leadership: There is a noticeable lack of accountability from management. Concerns raised about offensive comments and behavior, including some made openly in the office, were not effectively addressed after being formally reported. • General Environment: The overall atmosphere is toxic and unprofessional. It is common to hear leadership and other staff being rude and disrespectful when speaking about customers and engineers. Unprofessional to the point it felt like being in secondary school, lack of work being done and a lot of bullying.

Pros

None I can think of other than free pizza on your induction

Cons

Contract looks decent on first glance but then you realise the fixed salary and set hours per week comes with flexible hour terms based on the business needs and your placement of work can be changed temporarily or permanently. And the no payable overtime clause doesn't mean no overtime offered it means extra hours worked aren't payable. This is perfectly legal as long as your hourly rate doesn't drop below minimum wage. Its then you realise the salary is deliberately chosen to allow those extra hours of work in your day. If the salary was any less then they cant extract enough hours out of you before falling below the minimum wage rate per hour and any more on your salary is money they simply don't want to spend on you. And if you have to drive to any other sites far away that counts as your commute time outside of work due to the mobility clause. This contract isn't designed just to cover themselves its deliberate and manipulative in its intentions. I just wanted to warn anyone thinking of working for Lanes that its not a company with the right intentions for how their contracts and work practices are drafted up.

Pros

Nothing to mention at all

Cons

Toxic and disorganised. Avoid this place like the plague. Do not work here. It will burn you out and spit you back out if your face doesn’t fit. There is nothing good to say about this business. Openly racist, homophobic, sexist liars who do nothing but cause issues for their clients and staff.
