Pros

you get a good amount of holiday

Cons

-Introducing changes without zero regard for whether it'll actually improve effectiveness. Imagine being told a job that currently requires two managers will now only be handled by one. What was the outcome? A drop in performance. Who would have thought that two teams need two managers. This was the only job where I actually felt that managers had it worse, and a company that 'cares' shouldn't be doubling people's workload overnight. -Progression is literally non-existent unless you're a favourite. The payscale system introduced is absolutely ridiculous- why do we need to learn how to do two other job roles which we aren't contracted to do? -If you take an interest in how things actually work in the drainage industry, you'll quickly realise all the company actually needs from you is calling customers and clicking a few times. -How effective do you think you are, working for 12 hours? Most people would get at least the same amount if not more work done in 8. -Higher managers don't actually care about the work you do and this is made really obvious. But they do get to enjoy all the bonuses, pay rises, company cars etc. -Any new process that's introduced is introduced with no real input from the people who will have to do it. And if you don't like it? You're being negative. -If you're not interested in being gossipy or lazy, expect to be treated like an outcast. -I've never seen a job where favoritism is more open. -You're at the mercy of everyone except your actual line manager. If someone wants something, it doesn't matter that there's a stack of procedures saying their issue isn't important or even your problem. They'll just stomp their feet until they get it.

Pros

Working on the Thames Water contract provides a fast paced environment where the client demands exceptional service. Working as a part of a team allows success to be shared, whilst individuals also have the opportunity to stand out and be recognised.

Cons

The sheer scale of the operation is at times daunting, bu there is always support where required.
