Pros

- You will have a job. - The company pays a stipend for mobile phone data and for travel.

Cons

If you insist on working here: - Do not buy the company's messaging about being a "mission-based" organization. They want to seem like an ethical/moral company. They like to tout their 'non-profit' status. But stay at the company long enough, and you'll realize that they are, ultimately, all about the money. - At first, it may seem like management simply needs training to address their disorganization and irrationality. But I don't believe that the CEO, with all his learning, simply needs management lessons. Rather, he's been able to promise office culture change for so long because he can rely on employee turnover. And the rest of management is complicit in this. If all the employees who have issues eventually leave or are removed, then no one is left to hold management accountable for promised change. - Your job security will not be dependent on job performance. This company isn't interested in developing best practices. They are not interested in you, as a worker, being excellent at what you do. They don't care about your passion or your interests. They don't care about collaboration. The company really only cares about whether or not you do as you're told. - Your experience at Larta is largely determined by who your director is. Do note that directors are free to take credit for your work and can/will blame underlings if things go south. Don't be surprised if you realize that you're handling most of your director's workload on top of your own. Furthermore, directors are free to lie about their own work and the work of their staff. HR will support management, regardless of documentation. - HR is not your friend. HR is not an impartial arbitrator. It doesn't matter how ridiculous the circumstances are or how heinous the reality of a situation may be, HR will back up management. End of story. - You will have to endure inappropriate comments and forced political perspectives from the management.

Pros

You’ll be able to build your alcohol tolerance (trust me you’ll need it).

Cons

Where do I begin? The job, the position, the role that you applied for. Hate to break it to you, your job description will not be what you actually do. What you signed onto isn’t what you actually do. You’ll most likely need to take on additional roles that you never knew were a part of the job. Your responsibilities will include making your highest superior look good. This said superior will probably bite off more than what they can chew. You’ll always feel like you’re under surveillance, because you are being watched (oh hello there stompers of the office, you’re not as sneaky as you think). It’s fine to have a healthy amount of competition, but here, it’s toxic. There’s no such thing as collaboration. However, there is such thing as stealing work. Oh, and I cannot forget to mention the lying. People will put words into your mouth and throw you under the bus just to look good for 5 minutes. Also, do a great job or have some amazing feat? Your compensation won’t reflect it. You’ll be underpaid and overworked. Don’t expect to get an amazing raise either. Your hard earned revenue will support failing projects and line the pockets of those with power. If you’re looking for some office culture, you’ve come to the wrong place. It’s completely non-existent here unless you consider bullying a culture. You will find catty management employees who are way over their heads in terms of their capabilities. They really are inept at adjusting to new processes and learning anything new. Can someone say, “Drain the swamp!” Please? If mistakes are made, management will never own up to their mistakes. Fingers will be pointed at you, your mother, and everybody under the sun. Lest we forget, they also won’t be able to fix anything in a timely manner. But we must mention, your success will never be recognized, so I hope you’re ready to let the head take all the glory. (Just remember, don’t fail, because while the wins are theirs, the fails are yours) Instead of all the perks they tout, you’ll be rewarded with passive aggressive comments every day about your attendance. Be prepared to be singled out for anything and everything. The organization is run by a charismatic, but inexperienced fellow who indulges in the art of being unprofessional. Now a quick analogy, if the Queen of the U.K. can just be a figurehead and carry out the duties she’s supposed to, you’d think that the CEO would follow suite. However, be prepared for another surprise... he’ll always inadvertently screw up your project because of his psychopathic tendencies and narcissism. This company only thinks short term, there’s no such thing as long term solution or planning here. So much goes on behind the scenes that is quite reminiscent of other relevant issues. Count yourself most likely an unknowing participant. And no one will ever know...... Still up for the challenge?

Pros

Staples Center is across the street, so cool location if you like to catch games after work. That's it.

Cons

Staff is an absolute joke from the highest level all the way down. Completely unprofessional and catty behavior. Back stabbing is the name of the game. Brownnosers will thrive, because it doesn't matter how much you work your behind off, it matters whose you kiss and who you throw under the bus. You will not be rewarded for skills and contributions, but for how great you make the stable genius in charge feel.
