Pros

Have some semblance of a structure, try to punch above their weight, pay what they say they will. If you are their type i.e. autocad and sketchup drafter then you will be fine.

Cons

Was warned to steer clear at the time by other friends saying they are ruthless. Friendly when you are in and toxic when you are out. Wouldnt say the directors are anything special but are capable and organised so are able to pick up work in the prime central london area. I wasnt allowed to express my qualities all they wanted was a technician but they do promote within after years of service so staff must be happy.

Do what you are told or you're out

Pros

Good salary for staff although not the best in London

Cons

Not allowed an opinion. Dare to disagree with the Directors and you will be punished. Clear favouritism in the office. Basically you must do what you are told without question or you will be pushed out. Continuously undermined. When raising an issue you are told it is just you (even though many others feel the same).

Pros

People are nice and friendly. A lot of young professionals so there are occasional office events to enjoy. If you like working on commercial office fit outs or interior heavy heritage type of projects with a range of top end expensive materials, you may find amusing to collecting samples and specify. If you are senior level, running a project by yourself, it is more comfortable to work. The office promote finishing work on time, so it is relatively easy to maintain good work and life balance.

Cons

This is CAD office with only one or two Revit projects. I was informed that they were looking for Revit user, was not informed that the office mainly operates with auto CAD. The office tries to avoid accepting Revit projects as much as possible, so it is limited chance to work on Revit projects. The resource management is chaotic; the management team moves around people over few projects very frequently, even the team leader levels, so it is hard to commit. The most of management team are originally from small practices: the office management is suitable for 20~25 people despite there are currently 50people working. There are a lot of projects inherited from other architects or teams inside with very messy cad files. The office has very old and basic cad standard and inconsistent filing management, it takes time to find a information or record. The office invests only senior team for their trainings for the new knowledge; latest BSR, fire safety, etc, and you will never know if those information will be shared across other architects. You need to convince management team your will to attend any training courses etc.
