Pros

Colleagues are in the same hell hole so they get it

Cons

Medpace eat up fresh PhD students, chew them up and spit them out. The aCTM pathway is truly horrendous. They put you through a year or two of being a project coordinator, where you are treated horrendously as you are the bottom of the pile. They then put you through a 5 month aCTM ‘training’ programme where you are critiqued on font styles in PowerPoint presentations and shouted at by egotistical senior CTMs when you ask relevant questions that would actually help your learning and development because you are told you are not allowed to ask questions. You are given no direction on when/what you need to do for promotion. Despite what they tell you there is no guarantee you will be promoted and if the trainers don’t like you, you won’t be promoted. If you are promoted to CTM you are given no training apart from a few PowerPoint slides and then left completely unsupported. The culture of bullying from senior members of staff is truly shocking and widespread. The company do nothing to protect you if you are bullied, they gaslight you into thinking that you are the issue and unfortunately don’t take any actions on the individuals who are bullying, allowing them to go on and continue to bully even more members of staff. During monthly meetings, CTMs are subjected to being told how bad they are, belittled and told how good they have it compared to other companies. You are expected to work a lot of unpaid overtime at all hours, travel with no additional pay or time back and then despite hitting your objectives and going above and beyond, you are given a trashy bonus if a bonus at all. With 2 weeks notice, they changed the work from home policy, removing a large amount of work from home days, leaving little time to organise changes to childcare. The company do not allow flexibility on the work from home policy for any reason, including severe weather. If you are thinking about applying for Medpace, I would advise that you don’t and join another company that will not bully you and are committed to training and developing you in a positive environment, celebrating you and your achievements. Medpace sucks the life out of you, don’t make the same mistake as everyone else did.

Pros

Integration into the clinical research industry, PTO, work schedule, ability to form professional connections

Cons

Inadequate pay, poor upper management, poor CEO functioning (it is clear and evident the oversight he has over ALL company decisions. Decisions seem to be made rashly with no insight from others), reversed Work from Home policy, terrible training program, high turnover and frequent team changes, poor reputation among CROs. CEO clearly doesn’t value employees and has said he’d replace us all with AI if he could.

Avoid at all costs - London office

Pros

Building has free gym and sauna

Cons

Very few opportunities for progression unless you are a CTM. PCs are overworked and underpaid. Work from home days have reduced and soon employess will be asked to return to office full-time. The company does not want to make people redundant to avoid paying out but will make your life miserable until you leave. Also was very diverse when I started there but most of the POCs have left...

Lack of Support for Employee Health And Well-being

Pros

N/A can’t think of one.

Cons

The timing of recent layoffs shortly before the holidays created significant stress and uncertainty among remaining employees. While I understand that difficult business decisions sometimes need to be made, announcing large scale terminations during this period understandably caused fear, anxiety, and decreased morale for those who were left wondering if they might be next. This atmosphere made it difficult for employees to focus fully on their work and enjoy what is typically a meaningful time of year. Greater transparency around the reasoning, future plans, and reassurance for remaining staff would have helped reduce speculation and emotional strain. During the recent snowstorm, employees were required to use their quarterly wfh allotment or borrow from a future quarter despite hazardous travel conditions and the fact that many roles can be fully performed remotely. While I understand the importance of maintaining consistent policies, situations involving extreme weather feel exceptional and create unnecessary stress for employees who are still prepared to work productively from home while prioritizing safety. This situation highlighted an opportunity for improvement. Offering a complimentary remote day during extreme conditions would demonstrate stronger support for employee well being while allowing business operations to continue smoothly.
